Nah ... I don't think so. Some things are easier for some people, some things are harder. It's just how it is. Brain chemistry, genetics, neurology, etc
Well that's simply a case of finding what works for the person motivates you and making the effort, yes, genetics and neurology can be a factor but a major determining factor is willpower, determination and discipline.
Tried and tested methods and programs like P90X have proven that, thousands of people have lost weight on it by following a strict diet and routine with effort and discipline.
Exhibit A.
Fattiez should try harder to WILL AWAY the fatz!

The willpower to change, the willpower to push yourself at six am every morning to 60 to 90 minutes of high intensity workouts and to stick to a strict diet.
That's why I am saying that people need to find out where they are and find out what works or them, I understand it is a difficult process to break an old habit or addiction but if we challenge ourselves, we can achieve personal goals.
I understand that not everyone has the goal of becoming a fitness model, supplement sponsored athlete or being extremely shredded, some people are happy with a fairly good standard of health and that's fine. People have different goals and that's the fun of fitness, it's about achieving your individual goals.
If people's weight struggles are individual that means we can't label teh fattiez collectively lazy and stupid!
Conclusion --- > Premise
Fattiez should try harder to WILL AWAY the fatz!
YOU. ARE. AWESOME.

Yeah that is true. You won't be able to quit smoking, lose weight, get fit, get a job or do anything really without determination/willpower.
Just saying that it's alot harder for some than others, sometimes beyond their capability because the bar is so much higher, in terms of willpower. Or because they have to expend vast amounts of willpower in other areas, and have little left for other things. Or it's situational. If you've never smoked, you'll have a much easier time not having your next cigarrette than someone who has smoked a pack a day for 30 years! It would be very difficult - impossible, actually - for the former to really grasp the latter's experience.
It's easy, of course, to use this as an excuse and not try very hard, in the cases where it is actually possible. That's caused by despair, though, which is itself a problem many struggle with.

I agree and I understand that it is more difficult for people who find comfort in food or even something as such as smoking or drinking. People are creatures of habit and routine so of course, it's never going to be an easy process to break a routine or to make psychological changes.
I can try to emphasize in a way but I don't understand why people become addicted to something that is detrimental in the long run or contradictory towards what they are trying to achieve. For instance, if someone is anxious, the last thing they should eat is a chocolate bar, they should be eating a calming food such as pasta. If I feel stressed or anxious, nothing in this world feels better than just hitting the weights or doing a high intensity workout so I guess that's what works for me.
the study that i posted did not address how people became fat, but they did find that obese people are more likely to have more relatives with addictions. however the study did make it clear that obese people overall have changes in their brains that make it HARDER for them to eat a healthy diet compared to average weight people. it is akin to expecting an aspie to be able to socialise like an NT. the bar is that much higher.

i think people who manage to lose weight and keep it off for their whole life should be understood as anomalies with superhuman willpower.
I'm sure this does not apply to all obese persons. You can gain some weight from a sedentary lifestyle with a normal diet, especially past a certain age. Not enough to put you way past your ideal BMI, but a bit over it at least.
i am unsure which part of my post you are disagreeing with. yes, some people are more sedentary, but if they gain weight then they are technically overeating. if they eat too much for their sedentary lifestyle, they will gain weight.

You have to eat a certain amount of calories just to get all your protein and vitamins, don't you? I guess I don't know the science well enough to really say, though.

not too much. you can get away with very little intake. often, bedridden people don't gain weight even though their output is small, and they manage to get their daily requirements met.

i don't think anyone lacks willpower. even a morbidly obese person still has willpower, they just might need more of it than a thin person in order to eat properly. a given average-weight person might have very little willpower at all - they might just be wired not to overeat, for example. that isn't because they have a stronger will - it's because they could care less about licking that nommy tasty stick of butter.
i feel as though i am not getting this concept across properly. can an aspie become a social butterfly by exercising willpower? probably, but it would take more effort for most aspies as opposed to most NTs. the starting point is different because of differently-wired brains.

You do know there are people who do this and remain FAT?
I did, for years and years.
You don't get to determine reality for people, sorry to say.
Let's take this absurdist, offensive concept and run with it, actually-
let's all agree that fat people are _______________________ (fill in the blank with "lazy", "gluttonous", or whatever other adjective you'd never DREAM of applying to any other group).
How is it any one else's business if they don't want to be thin?
Different people = different priorities.
Whether it's hard or easy for a person to lose weight, and whether they're motivated or not do so,
it's their life.

Pretty much.
Denying the basic variation among human beings allows people to pass judgement on any who "step out of line"-
violating social norms by being a "wrong" size, for instance.
Such simplistic, black-and-white declarations as "Stop eating when you're hungry!"
and "Indulge just a little bit!"
fall apart when you acknowledge,
for instance,
that binge eaters have been shown to have fewer receptors in their stomachs to alert their system to the fact they're full,
or that fat people actually report MORE PLEASURE from eating than thin people.
