When I wake up I'll have one cup of illy instant coffee with Oatly barista oat milk - I never have sugar. I'd probably drink a couple more cups a day if that particular brand wasn't so expensive but it's the only instant coffee I like.

I have a cappuccino machine so later in the day I'll make myself one of those with ground coffee - again with oatly because it froths up just like milk.

I knew a person who drank 30.......yes 30 cups of black coffee every single day.......for about 40 years. No joke.

When the Doc express concern about kidney damage, this person cut back to 15 cups per day.

Wild hey?!

I just quit. I'm on day 5 of no coffee. It's kind of ok but only because my husband is away if he was making coffee I would have caved by now.

I have to limit myself to a cup in the morning and one in the early evening each time using 4 tablespoons of grounds. Green tea during the rest of the day.

My body always wants more caffeine so if I don't limit my intake I will add another cup, then another, etc.

I have no problem at all with drinking caffeinated beverages right before falling asleep.

My problem if I don't limit my caffeine comes in the form of bad migraine withdrawal headaches.....

I never used to drink coffee, but last year I started drinking a cup every morning at work. This is the type of coffee you get from a cafe, the brewed stuff. Really good taste and helped me concentrate on my work (I thought).

Trouble was, I started getting sort of agitated in the afternoons, especially towards the middle and end of the week. Anything that happened seemed like a major drama, I was fidgety and my emotions were all over the place. It was causing trouble at work, because my frustrations would spill over. Then at the weekend I would crash, I'd have headaches and really low mood.

At home over the christmas break (not drinking coffee), my emotions steadied and my mood came back to normal. So I'm tempted to blame everything on the coffee, and have sworn off the stuff, vowed never to drink it ever again.

Just wondering about others' experiences?

I usually have two, three cups a day. My experience is that I usually feel more relaxed but alert. But from time to time I can get fidgety and headaches too. Lots of water, and exercise after lots of coffee seems to ease the negative side effects for me. Sometimes a person is just not use to the caffeine coffee or has already consumed lots of caffeine in some other form.

I can't reconcile with the smell and have not had a single cup in my life so far as a result.

I'm trying to cut way back on coffee over the summer and just have one watered down cup in the morning. I've been noticing that after a few hours I am extremely anxious for the rest of the day, almost to the point of panic attacks for no reason at all. Is this withdrawal, re-sensitizing, or am I just so chemically opposite to everyone else?

I treat coffee like it's a dire necessity such as O2 or H2O lol

I quit. 5 weeks now with no coffee. Feels great. Spent 2 years trying to quit and then came up with the idea that the absence of addiction would feel better than realising the addiction and that I should try and get addicted to the feeling of absence. If worked.

I am curious if your symptoms were due to the acids in coffee vs the caffeine. One way to find out would be to just take a 100mg caffeine pill (~equivalent to one large cup of coffee) each morning for a week like you did drinking coffee and see how you feel. My money would be on acids>caffeine.

I love coffee!! I only drink one cup in the evening though when my energy is crashing or when I want to socialize. It makes me more talkative.

I also like black tea, chai tea, green tea and ice tea.

If I drink more than a cup I do get agitated and also can’t sleep in the night. If I must avoid coffee by all means I eat a lil bit of dark chocolate. That satisfies my coffee cravings.
