I used to be bad at endurance sports but i was out of shape. i'm not good at sports that require a lot of coordination (like ball sports) but i'm good at other sports like rowing, biking, swimming. i've also been very strong my whole life so i'm good at things that require strength, like rowing, wrestling, etc.

I have asthma as well. it makes it difficult to get good at endurance sports if you don't have an inhaler but it's not impossible. i used asthma as an excuse (not saying you are) for years, just blaming my poor performance on it, but in reality i was just out of shape. i do fine if i use my inhaler, and now it really only bothers me when i'm doing exercise at an intensity that produces lactic acid, if i'm doing aerobic exercise it generally doesn't bother me unless it's really humid or i have a cold.
there are also olympians with asthma, so it's not impossible to get over it. a tv show was talking about how the Beijing olympics might be very difficult for those with asthma because of the poor air quality.
