Nice bit of writing there. Funny but sad at the same time. I was there (weight fanatic), in late teens, early twenties and so know it has a lot of truth to it.
On a tangent, I am a believer in the
missing autistic women. In other words I don't think the 4:1 ratio of males to women autistics is true. I suspect the ratio is much closer and somehow it is hidden under other things.
Anyway I read a recent study that said it found that eating disorders have some of the same genetic markers as autism and the behaviors are parallel (an interest and obsession with weight). It went on to suggest that many with weight disorders may be on the autistic spectrum. I don't know if it is true & it is just one study. But I will be interested to see if it pans out.
I didn't really start out on a diet per se. I don't follow any established diet that is for sure. Just aim for healthy and variety, but keep all my natural favorites like meats, eggs, bread, fruits, veggies and the most essential tea, coffee and ice cream.

This thread got me hooked on the idea of eliminating the compulsive eating behaviors, the night raids especially, though I thought some weight loss would go with it. But that widened a little bit to also include portion control on the other things. No extra helpings, etc. I am still tweaking on it, in an effort to lose the last 12. I think that will be harder then the first 8. But definitely am happy with how it is going.
