Do they fill you up enough?

Good work! :)

Yes, the dinner and desert I allow are definitely filling me up. Its just like I look forward to snacking in the evening late, and also get a kind of impulse, possibly thru habit - I guess that's the compulsive part - eating when you are not hungry and just for the pleasure it gives of itself.

I suppose that's good? Congrats :)

I'm doing extremely well myself, at the moment.

Yes good & good for you too. So much good. Better then bad. Bad is bad.

8 lbs is about 3 kilos, but really I lost it all in last two months. Have 12 lbs to go to target of 178 lbs. But I don't weigh myself. I tend to go overboard with some things, like obsess. I am just instead monitoring if I am on target diet wise and then assume that the weight will slowly decrease. And belt loops... those I can't avoid noticing. Have shrunk 2 loop in last two months.

I shrunk as well. I don't weigh either though, I think weighing is useless unless I become significantly more fat which makes it a health issue. I see so many people already struggling with what that stupid scale says! As if they're a slave of it and come for judgement every morning, hoping that they obeyed well to the thing/their own mind's creation. :? I see you're on a diet... isn't the result encouraging?

Nice bit of writing there. Funny but sad at the same time. I was there (weight fanatic), in late teens, early twenties and so know it has a lot of truth to it.

On a tangent, I am a believer in the missing autistic women. In other words I don't think the 4:1 ratio of males to women autistics is true. I suspect the ratio is much closer and somehow it is hidden under other things.

Anyway I read a recent study that said it found that eating disorders have some of the same genetic markers as autism and the behaviors are parallel (an interest and obsession with weight). It went on to suggest that many with weight disorders may be on the autistic spectrum. I don't know if it is true & it is just one study. But I will be interested to see if it pans out.

I didn't really start out on a diet per se. I don't follow any established diet that is for sure. Just aim for healthy and variety, but keep all my natural favorites like meats, eggs, bread, fruits, veggies and the most essential tea, coffee and ice cream. This thread got me hooked on the idea of eliminating the compulsive eating behaviors, the night raids especially, though I thought some weight loss would go with it. But that widened a little bit to also include portion control on the other things. No extra helpings, etc. I am still tweaking on it, in an effort to lose the last 12. I think that will be harder then the first 8. But definitely am happy with how it is going. :)

How are you guys doing? I was going to contribute when I got a grip on being out of control. That is still pending.

^^^

I am still sticking to it. Week 7 maybe. Carrots and gum and tea and such are what is saving me in difficult times.

I didn't have a overall plan at first and did not stop all at first. I just started with most obivious compulsive habit (night-time snacking) and then worked out a more overall diet plan over the next few weeks.

So maybe starting maybe not be so hard if you just target one thing at first.

If I still lived with my parents, I'd actually be dissipating this energy by walking around outside or doing short sprints in the yard, but in the neighborhood I'm in I don't feel relaxed enough to do it (the presence of so many people makes me uneasy) so unfortunately I turn to sugary candy and salty chips instead.

I overeat because of anxiety, too. I am anxious while eating, too.

Just eliminating something is hard. Having a substitute can really help. But it has to be handy (available).

Here's some stuff that stopped me from overeating when I decided to lose weight:

1. Plan your meals, then only buy what you'll need for those meals. If you eat an entire day's worth of food by lunchtime, just be hungry for the rest of the day.
2. DON'T KEEP SNACKY FOODS THAT ARE EASY TO BINGE ON IN THE HOUSE.
3. Eat enough protein and fibre so that you aren't hungry all the time.
4. In situations where you might usually grab a snack, go for a walk instead.

Still on target. But seem to be on a plateau weight wise. Will just sticking to it yield more results or do I need cut calorie intake more/increase activity to continue weight loss? I don't need to lose much, just 12 lbs. Increased activity seems not a possibility. I already am maxed out with what my old injury will allow and push into painful territory regularly as is. I guess its the calorie intake... alas poor desert and sugar in my coffee

Maintaining new diet, but still on plateau and not seeing additional weight loss. Hard to give up anything more.
