Constantly Sick
Hello, I've noticed that I seem to be sick quite often. A lot more often than a think is usual and for a lot more regularly. Not sick in the sense of cannot leave the home. Simply ill in the sense that I feel, except for brief intermissions of good health, less than one hundred percent. This has probably been the case for at least a few years or so.
Does anyone have an idea what it could be? For the record, I do have dual autoimmune diseases (Celiac and Type I Dibabetes), which may weaken the immune system in general.
Celiac and Diabetes probably mean you've got one heck of a limited diet huh? Probably missing out on a lot of stuff a 'normal' healthy diet would contain. Which I would guess should be covered by recommended vitamins and supplements. Do you see a nutritionist? I would think the very obvious answer is its your diet.

It's possible that your immune system is just working over-time all the time. I was constantly sick for about 8 months, on and off of not being able to leave my bed, for no particular reason. (Think 100-102 degree fever on and off for 9 months, and my normal body temperature is around 96.) They never figured it out, and my body's managed to figure out how to function better over time. I'm nowhere near back to what I was before, but I'm definitely functional. And for me, it wasn't stress or diet like people think. My body just went through a bunch of changes and found a new "normal". It was unpleasent during the change, but now its ok most of the time. (I still get sick a lot more than most people, but at least I'm not sick constantly, and I've figured out how to function when sick and still get things done.)
Now this story does have a point... have there been any major changes in medications for you recently? Have you suddenly cut out anything from your diet, or added it back in? Are you particularly stressed in your work or school? I would suggest looking at these external factors before looking back to see if you have any other medical conditions.
Feel better!

Nutrition is going to make a big impact on your immune system. Fitness as well. If you are very fit, you are less likely to get sick. Its often overlooked, but genes also play a large role in immunity. Some people are just naturally immune to being sick, while others get sick like every week. Combining good genes, a perfect diet, and an active lifestyle will turn you into a tank...metaphorically of course.
Not everyone's diet should be the same. What you should eat and drink can vary depending on your body somatype and lifestyle. For example, a meso-ectomorph with a very active lifestyle is going to eat far more calories than an endomorph who sits at a computer all day. Here are some general guidelines that everyone should follow:
Increase the following foods:
Whole grains and products made with them. Vegetables, ideally organic and seasonal. Fruit. Seeds and nuts. Tofu and soya. Herbs, non processed and natural. Teas (without sugar and caffeine).
Decrease, not take away, the following foods:
Refined products such as white sugar, flour and bread. Tropical fruits (very acidic). Dairy products and cheese. Very cold drinks and foods. Strong spices and chilli.
Eliminate the following:
Drugs - including caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and even some medications (taking tylenol because you have a wittle bitty headache? Come on...). Artificial additives of all kinds. Red meat. Deep fried food.
Vegetarian diets are very healthy. You should really consider eating a vegetarian diet. Studies have proven that meat naturally contains hormones and steroids that are harmful to the body. The unneeded hormones increase aging and the unneeded steroids will increase suseptability to disease. If you cant avoid eating meat for whatever reason, try to limit it.
There is also a diet that has a lot of support in the scientific community. It is called caloric restriction. No, this is not anorexia. Anorexia will give you malnutrition. This diet is quite the opposite. One who follows a calorie restricted diet is one who will eat a lot of nutriet dense foods without having to eat a ton of calories. For instance, foods that are high in calories, but low in nutrition are foods you should avoid. Foods that are high in nutrition, but low in calories are foods you should be eating. Studies have proven that a follower of this diet will have much more youthful energy, despite eating less calories. In tests, scientists have given animals such as monkeys, fruit flys, and certain bacteria a calorie restricted diet and they have doubled their lifespan. They discovered that calories actually weaken the cells in the body. This has not been scientifically tested on humans yet, but there are many people who are living on this diet. Go to http://www.calorierestriction.org/ for more information on this revolutionary diet discovery.
