I have been on neuroleptics and other prescription drugs for 7 years now. I am 48 and male and single.
In 2002 I had some old fears from childhood an teens coming back after I moved back to my country.
I also had PTSD symptoms from one incident in 92 and went to talk to a psychologist (without appointment).
She sent me over from her day clinic to the psychiatric unit of the hospital and I have seen dozens of shrinks ever since, most of them insisting on a neuroleptic and especially a risperdal injection of 25 mg.
2 weeks ago I talked to a female Aspergian of Asperger Aide France and she said that the appropriate daily dosis of a neuroleptic for an Aspergian was less than 1mg a day.
Over 3 years ago I was verbally diagnosed with AS, but despite getting tested for it once 2 years ago I still don't have a written diagnosis. Because the professionals at the autism center where I got tested refused to confirm or deny the diagnosis partly because they are not specialised in Asperger Syndrom and partly for "political" reasons.
So now I stopped taking the risperdon injection and am in withdrawal (while taking 1mg a day for now).
A young intern encouraged me with this and I did not tell any of my two last shrinks as I do not have any appointment anymore.
Yesterday I had a difficult moment when some stranger was trying to come on to me and some of my old fears were back.
But I did not panik, react or run away from the store were it happened but waited my turn at the check out line.
I hesitated several times about calling my last therapist about some of this but for him AS is sooo hard to diagnose that he never could tell and he talked me into accepting AS and paranoid schizophrenia both as my diagnosis and I do not aggree with that and his methods which are a bit coercive to me anyway.
I hope I do not give anyone the wrong idea about stopping or reducing without professional help. Myself I have three previous attempts that did not work out or were a violent experience (a few ago stopping an antidepressant, sleeping pill and tranquilizer at once was like one should not do it). I was in emergencies of two hospitals three times over one night because I was so angry or confused from this radical withdrawal.
