Salmonella from chicken
I just cooked some chicken tonight (after a couple of pints) for the first time. Ive already eaten it all so maybe theres no point in worrying, but im concerned it was undercooked and theres a possibility i contracted salmonella.
I dont particularly like cooking new stuff which has the possibility of making me ill if not cooked properly without the guidance of someone more experienced. Tonight i was on my own.
Anyway i was just cooking chicken thighs which were on the bone. There were 6 in the packet, i left them covered on the counter from about 11 in the morning to about 11 at night. I poked them all with a knife and felt that 3 were completely defrosted, and the others weren't, so i put them in a box in the fridge, to completely defrost for tomorrow.
Anyway, the three which i felt were okay i baked them in the oven for about 50minutes on about 180c in a fan assisted oven. I poked them after and no blood came out.
HOWEVER they looked a little grey and some parts were quite chewy. I ended up throwing parts away, especially stuff closer to the bone, as a precaution
Anyway do you think it may have been under or not properly cooked, and would there be much risk of something like salmonella, or something even worsefrom it?
As you may have noticed im not very experienced in cooking, let alone cooking chicken!
