My boyfriend is in very good physical shape. He runs and works out every day. Since I have known him, he has had several injuries and muscle tears. He said that this has happened to him his whole life. Recently a rib popped out of place and he went to a chiropractor to have it put back. I thought he was wrong and that he had just pulled a muscle because his ab muscles look so strong, that I didn't think it was possible that they wouldn't have held his rib in. I told him that is something that happens to people with weak ab muscles or pregnant women.

In my research hyptonia or low muscle tone is something that many people with AS have to deal with. It is a hard concept for me to understand. Has anyone here had a rib slip out of place or has had muscle tears that have been linked to AS?

I recently read about hypotonia being prevalent among Aspies, but I don't remember where. I have had this problem happen quite a bit, often leading to disabling injuries. I often get one rib popping out and having to have it pushed back in. Many times I have merely stretched myself, upon waking, and ended up needing to see my chiropractor or PT. My daughter, also an Aspie, gets hip dysplasia, where her hip has to be coaxed back in place, by her lying flat on her back, with her legs propped on a box or something.

I've dislocated ribs, and am very strong.

I also have Ehler's Danlos Syndrome. dislocations and EDS kind of go together.

Thank you both for your input! I really appreciate it. I still have so much to lean about AS.

I have that problem in all parts of my body, right down to the trouser department. I don't have the patience or the stamina to hit the gym, so I've decided to be happy with how the good lord made me.
