I'm am so tired of how just about everything you eat and drink on this planet will either make you sick or make you fat. I mean, when I was a kid my mother was always telling me to drink my orange juice because "it's good for you". Then I read that oj will make you fat because it has mre calories thatn pop. Sheesh.
I also used to drink a lot of milk as a kid "oh milk is so full of calcium it gives you strong healthy bones and teeth" now I will probably turn into a cow from the hormones and junk and then theres that disgusting "Got Autism" ad from PETA.
Then the Atkins diet, oh how I hated how it was suddenly acceptable to eat greasy fried hamburger patties and bacon but don't eat the bun too or you'll get fat!! !
I can practically live on bread and pasta but the thought of eating so much meat is gross. And almost everything that's still considered healthy like organic spinach becomes tainted with E.Coli or whatever. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to eat at all, but then of course I'd starve. Can't win. ![]()

Orange juice is good for you, I believe. It contains vitamins and is one of your portions of fruit or vegetables. It's not good to drink too much of it, because it has got a lot of sugar in it and isn't good for your teeth among other things. It's much healthier than pop, regardless of calories. Drinking orange juice in moderation won't "make you fat" - eating more calories than are necessary without doing enough exercise continuously for months or even years is what causes people to be overweight. People don't just eat a chocolate bar and suddenly become overweight.
If drinking too much milk did turn people into cows, I think it would have been big news by now. And calcium while growing up is vital - the bones you've got have to last you your entire life.
The health risks on the Atkins diet are still not entirely known. Perhaps it does cause people to lose weight, but that doesn't make it healthy or right. There have even been alleged deaths because of it, although nothing has been proven. Not eating carbohydrates means that people have no energy, at the very least.
Try not to waste to much anxiety on these these things. If you eat too much one day you won't suddenly get fat. If you eat something unhealthy one day you won't suddenly become ill. Food is necessary to keep us alive. Certain nutrients are necessary to unsure we grow properly, stay physically strong, have energy and fight illness.
first, the planet is very polluted and factory farming has definitely degraded the food supply.
and that's that.
second, just eat what your body wants, when it wants, as much as it wants. i'm not talking about junk, just actual food.
if you stick to actual food--that grows, that once was alive (animal, plant--up to you) and that's as little modified as possible, and organic (for you and for the planet) whenever you can opt for that, what more can you ask for?
your body will ask for what it needs. unless you have some food disorder, just paying attention to what it asks for, and stopping eating when your satisfied, should be fine. it's what humans have done since ever and they weren't all fat.
i suspect much of the obesity comes from the fact that many people are eating a diet largely devoid of actual nutrients (including some live nutrients, which are critical longterm in any diet and which all traditional diets had or have: yogurt, fish roe, raw kraut, whatever). since they're not atually being nourished, they keep being hungry. they eat and eat yet still aren't satisfied. of course not; they're body is actually slowly starving on the lifeless crap that's modified to suit the needs of business not human beings.
third: just ignore all the junk "news." sure, an orange is better for you than OJ, but whatever. things get "proved" all the time that are frankly, just bull. spend a little time reading about traditional diets in different countries. you'll see that humans have thrived for thousands of years on every sort of diet imaginable. inuits eat differently from people in india, nepali's don't eat what italians eat. yet until this modern obsession with profit above all else (and the tech to back it up on a huge scale), every traditional culture's food was fine for the people.
fourth: same as third, ignore all the junk people want you to read. they're writers, no write no pay. they're not in the lab and they often don't fully grasp the subtleties of the research, and some of the research itself is funded by less-than-objective entities.
that you're tired of these silly fads and collective "omg"s shows you have some sense.
