I love to eat. Not just when I'm hungry, but when I'm bored or don't have anything else to do. Problem is, I eat a lot of carbs (crackers, bread and fries) and sweets, (cookies and chocolate.) I think I've put on a few pounds because of my diet. Any suggestions on how I can take the weight off and make my diet healthier?

cut out sugar completely and you will find that quite quickly you stop craving it.

I used to be a chronic snacker. And there was a time when I was addicted to mint crumbles. I was obsessed about them, talked incessantly about them, waxed lyrical about them on the internet. It got to the stage that people I barely knew tracked down my details and sent me mint crumbles!

But anyhow I digress. Have a big jar of nuts beside you. Unsalted and unsugared. I know that nuts can be fattening, but they'll be better for you than all that processed white flour and sugar.

Then have a stash of bananas, apples, whatever fruit you like beside your computer. They'll initially be less tempting, but after a while, you will begin to taste them properly.

I agree with SilentScream about replacing sweets and carbs with fruit and nuts. You may consume the same amount as weight as you did before, at first, but you will become healthier as time goes by.

Cutting out sugar completely is just too much... 8O 8O

I am not overly obsessed with sugar like you are and I wouldn't want to do THAT!

Calories are energy. You balance energy in with energy out to maintain weight. You increase energy output or decrease energy input to gain weight. You decrease energy output or increase energy input to gain weight.

Also, carbohydrates are quite readily processed by one's body. Fats are more complex molecules and take longer to process.

If you bake, you could try to atleast switch to unrefined sugar, or stevia. I wouldn't recommend artificial sweeteners though, they are all worse than sugar.
