The symptoms are pretty much the same from what I've read. I have reason to believe I have reactive hypoglycemia although a fasting glucose test showed my blood sugar to be low but within normal limits. I also have incidents that feel like low blood sugar when I am stressed and overloaded and it doesn't seem to logically correlate to what I have or haven't eaten. For instance, I don't feel hungry like with a growling stomach. So today I had one of those times when it seemed like everyone wanted something from me at once. I walked away from the situation but shortly thereafter my heart started racing, my hands started shaking and I had this weird feeling of unreality. So in order to differentiate between the two I have a question that may help clear it up.

When your blood sugar drops because of reactive hypoglycemia, does it seem to come out of nowhere and happen very quickly?

This is how it happens to me. Ironically, according to what I read online, eating something helps both.

I go through the same thing, often just before dinner. I find that juice in the morning or afternoon helps keep my blood sugar elevated, and anxiety/irritation at bay.

Does your blood sugar drop very suddenly? That's what I'm asking in order to maybe differentiate between low blood sugar and an anxiety attack.

Sometimes mine does crash out of nowhere. I know I have times where I feel a bit woozy and I will drink some juice or have a peanut butter and honey sandwich and recover fairly quickly... but I also have times where I will just start spazzing out and get all lightheaded and shaky, get tunnel vision when I go from stand to sit... I do not know why it is that I can stop it before it gets bad sometimes and other times... boom... it just starts bad.

Bend over and touch the ground for a few seconds. If you find yourself dizzy, light headed, or semi-blacking out as you rise back upright, it's low blood sugar. You can actually faint from it sometimes.
