I practice martial arts in fact. I do taekwondo, and will become a black belt in a short time.
I feel that taekwondo taught me stuff like self control. It also turned me from a fat kid into a very in-shape guy.

To me, taekwondo is something that teaches me how to discipline yourself, but lets you stay fit at the same time. It helps me cope with the ADHD, and taught me self control (one of it's five tenets).

I used to study TKD in highschool. I achieved a red belt before I had to move on with life and go to college. I nearly had my black belt. I enjoyed all the kicking and balancing and self control aspects of the art. While my instructor was a bit of a hot head, the other teachers there helped balance things out. I only regret that he kind of got caught up in the competitive aspect of TKD and started to focus on that instead of trying to keep a healthy balance.

I pracitice karate, goju ryu, i like it because it suits me, i used to be picked on but now the tables have turned and theres no fear. I think Thai boxers the the likes will understand that, overcoming fear is the bigest hurdle, move inside the comfort zone of agressors, cunfusses them, therefore the upperhand, grabing peoples faces and groins (boys and girls) hair pulling etc is the way, knees and elbows and open hands work inside, also the nutt.

girls grab, bite and scatch, boys take note, it works.

Krav Maga. Military-style hand to hand combat. Not quite martial art if you ask me, but in the minds of many people it is.

Krav Maga is not about finding your inner zen or peace or preprogrammed moves or none of that. It is about the most efficient techniques for disarming and disabling an attacker. Use overwhelming force to put them down as quickly as possible.

I started doing karate but I had to give up classes as I found the discipline and social aspect of them too much to cope with :(

Thanks. Yeah cool isn't it? Krav Maga dojo, a real one sanctioned by International Krav Maga Federation, is less than a mile from where I work. Very convenient ducking in there for an hour on my way home in the evening.

Yes. Two years of Kali off a Wing Chun/Kuntao base, also Tai Chi on the side. So far I'm loving it. It looks like it'll be maybe another three years before I can get my black sash in Kali, I'm pretty serious about making it happen though. After that, I may look into Systema to see if it offers anything else I like but other than that - I'll probably just keep working my striking, trapping, sectoring, etc. to get it down to intuition.

Yes. I'm a black belt in ITF Taekwon-Do. It's been amazing for my coordination, though I don't think I'm necessarily as good as I should be at my rank :/

Karate, shotokan, during eleven years. I stopped when I had my black belt because I had to go to university.
