When summer began this year, I weighed 260 lbs. Since then, however, I've been moderating how much I eat, drinking diet shakes in substitution for meals, and exercising at the gym, so now I've shrunk down to less than 240 lbs. I am going to keep this rate of weight loss up! :D

good job so far.

IMO you don't really need the diet shakes. Just keep an eye on WHAT you eat and how much. Diet shakes are just another way for companies to get money from people, its like snake oil >_> (yes, most people I knew who did the diet shakes along with changes in lifestyle/eating habits either lost nothing or very little, one even gained.) I wouldn't suggest going full vegan, but make sure you get plenty of vegetables, preferably fresh raw/steamed. As for meat, stick to lean meats such as turkey breast, or fish. Dairy you should limit, and if you do, it would be wise to take a calcium supplement. For snacks, fruits, raw fresh veggies, and nuts (keep an eye out for low sodium/non-salted, or you can just buy them in bulk and crack them yourself.). For wheats, stick to whole/multigrain. Cut out soda/coffee/tea (self brewed via tea leaves is fine IMO because of health benefits)

I've put myself on a weight loss programme that works for me. I'm following the Winning Points Weight Watchers system from 2000 to 2003. I've gone from 265 lbs down to 255 lbs so far. :)

YAY :D to y'all 8)
i suggest that daily exercise, sufficiently vigorous to raise heart rate and perspiration, will vastly speed-up your weight loss and reduce the need for a strict dietary regime. just a thought.

I found that I couldn't reduce my weight by diet alone. Next month I plan to sign up for a bargain health club that's a few miles down the road. It's called Fitness 19 because they only charge $89 to join and $19 a month thereafter. They don't have amenities like Gold's Gym does, but that's fine, all I need is a good cardio workout. I am extremely sedentary, and I was on weight gain causing meds for a long time, so I've got a lot to lose.
