Ok, this is mostly a rant because of the pain i'm in =P.

I woke up Monday morning with a pain in my lower stomach, very slight pain that would manifest itself in normal physical activities. Might feel it if sitting down or going up stairs. It felt like maybe I slept funny, had blanket wad up under my side or something.

It gradually got extremely painful throughout the day to the point that by nightfall I couldn't stand or sit or go up stairs without excruciating shots of pain.

My first instinct said apendix, it was on the wrong side of the stomach but I thought I heard somewhere in the past the pain could be in awkward places. Doc drew blood and did a scan and said that was all good, it was a strained muscle and to just stay off it for a week or two.

Well how do you rest a muscle involved in breathing? sitting, standing, going to the rest room, coughing? This week has been a nightmare.

Pain killers stop the regular resting pain, but if I move it's on 100%. I havn't gotten a nights rest. I can position myself so that there is no pain, but the moment i'm moving in my sleep the pain wakes me right back up, and i'm a very restless sleeper, always moving.

This is the most torture I've ever been in. I've strained something in just about every limb, had nightmare toothaches, broken my share of bones from sports growing up from toes to rib, but nothing compares to this.

Anyone ever done this? pulled a lower torso muslce?

Did go to a doc who diagnosed it as just a pulled muscle (oblique). I had a friend not too long ago have an appendix infection and had to have it removed. It started as just pain in his back on the opposite side so thought he just hurt his back but after a week it got worse and he went in. Doc told him an appendix infection can manifest itself as pain anywhere in your abdomen area. So I got nervous right away about it and went in the same day, especially since i just woke up with the pain, didnt happen while doing something strenuous. But likely just twisted or turned funny in the night and did it.

Finally today there is some good relief and it feels like it's getting better. But man, what a pain it's been. Never realize how important those core muscles are till they are hurting. I'm now very well aware of every action that muscle is involved in due to feeling it's every ache while doing it =P

thank god that it was relatively minor and self-healing. having toned and powerful core muscles/abs would be a good insurance policy against a future recurrence.
i have a problem now and then with my hanging ribs, when i get a bad cold the coughing irritates the dickens out of 'em and i am in agony anytime i breathe, as though the cold wasn't bad enough.

Done that been their sucks huh?

Best thing you can do is just lay down take it easy and use the pain killers their is nothing much else you can do until the pain dies.

Just wait it out and rest.
