Any raw fooders out there? I'm new to the raw food diet and I'm incorporating more raw into my diet. I'm also stocking up on info about it. It's a fascinating subject.

I was doing raw food for a couple of years and it put my diabetes completely into remission and I was not depressed and felt great and lost a LOT of weight. But it was very expensive and I live below the poverty line and I couldn't keep doing it (I'm still paying off the credit cards because raw food was eating outside of my means) so now I have some cooked food again to keep the cost down and I feel like hell.

I think raw food is good for periods of time, but I think in the end you start missing certain nutrients that don't extract easily/aren't present in raw foods. I've been on some quite strict, extreme, and unusual diets in the past, and they did help clear up some health problems, but now I'm on a more 'middle way' sort of diet.

I grow stuff organically so it helps a bit. My plan is to be self sufficient next year and live off produce from my allotment and back yard. My backyard growing has been a success so far. I'm not going 100% raw though that's for sure.
