just wondering if there's any pharmacological way to treat food addiction.
I realized I might have it when, after my wife went to bed and was sound asleep, I made a pan of bacon. Certainly not something I would have done in front of her - one of the tell-tale signs of food addiction.

Eating disorders are a pretty serious matter. I went through rehab (in high school) where it wasn't just kids with alcohol or substance abuse problems, so I got to see some girls with some serious eating disorders just wrecking themselves with anorexia. I'm sure the opposite problem is just as bad, as I know my own experience with overeating has made me feel awfully, physically and emotionally. Eating an entire box of doughnuts, then within an hour cracking open a family size bag of Tostitos tortilla chips and eating the entire thing (plus a half bottle of salsa) in about a half an hour - and STILL wanting more.
No, I wouldn't eat like that in front of someone else either, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there is a food addiction going on. If you feel like you HAVE to eat like that and feel like there is no other way to do it but to hide what you're doing, then there might be something more to it. I'll defer to anyone who answers who is more familiar with eating disorders who might have a better answer/suggestion for you.

Given the diet you posted in the other thread, it may be a lack of protein and fats. You could also be short on water intake (it can feel like you're hungry when you're really needing water). Another possible reason behind it is that you have an oral fixation. I regularly chew the caps of my water bottles and have some gum on hand for when I can't do that.
Where does the need to eat a panful of bacon come from? Was it a specific need? Like: I need bacon.
There's also the issue of vitamin deficiency, but given bacon's lack of pretty much any vitamin, I doubt that. Though some other sort of nutritional deficiency is possible.
Your cravings could reflect the needs of your body. If you're not meeting those needs, well... Just... meet those needs.
Like I said before, it's probably a lack of fat in your diet.
Edit: Seriously. Your diet is semi-vegetarian. Vegetarians have a major issue with fat intake. Beans, nuts, cheeses, olives, avacados... these are all ways to increase your fat intake. USE THEM. Your body NEEDS fat. When you're not getting enough, it starts craving it. Since the highest fat item in your diet is bacon, it goes for bacon. Get more fat in your diet and you'll be hungry less and won't need to get up in the middle of the night and eat a bunch of bacon.
