I just got my wisdom teeth removed two days ago and I'm currently taking pain killers and Penicilin. The good news is that the Penicillin is curing my cold that I was getting the day before the surgery.

The bad news is a thought that just occurred to me: back in college I was on antidepressants and whenever I missed my medication or had to go off of it for some reason, I wound up with extreme nausea and vomiting from withdrawal. I'm afraid that will be the case once I run out of medicine...especially since I am required to take every pill of Penicilin until the bottle's empty to prevent any infection.

I need some advice on how to deal with the upcoming withdrawal and the horrible nausea that's soon to come with it. I hear Saltine crackers and gingerale are the classic remedy for it but I may not be ready to be able to eat crunchy foods again by then. I would rather stick with the soft foods as much as I can for someone in my condition.

Help please?

Anti-depressants and pain killers are entirely different classes of medications. I think it's unlikely that you have withdrawl from the pain killers. You usually only see that in cases of severe prescription pain killer abuse. Unlike anti-depressants, however, most prescription pain killers are psychologically addictive and so you do need to be careful with them. Personally, I usually give advil a try before I try something stronger, and to be honest, I've never had to try anything stronger. I think doctors too frequently assume that something over the counter won't work.

If you do decide to try something over the counter for the pain instead, first ask your doctor if it's ok, and make sure it won't interfere with any medication that might still be in your system.

I am off prozac now.

I tried coming off it a few times and it was not that easy so i gave up about about 2 weeks.

Normally, after 1 week, bcause of the long half life, i felt the withdrawal after a week and by the end of the second week i had to start taking it otherwise i could not function well at all.

The final time, which i started in mid december, i made changes to my diet which included many seeds, more fruit, more vegetables, more herbal teas and less wheat. i am course consumed no refined sugary products at all.

this time around it took 2 weeks for me to start to feel the withdrawal. It was not as intense a feeling as the first time around. I stil had some brain fogg (cloudy mind difficulty concentrating) and i felt tired easily. This seemed to get and less, then after another 2 weeks I felt fine completely.

My guidance for you, to help with withdrawal is to reduce or cut out junk food and eat healthy foods. Keep hydrated and go for a walk and stretch in the morning to waken yourself up.
