I was diagnosed with ADHD when i was much younger (I'm 20 now), and I used to take ritalin to help me concentrate in school.

I've been trying to pick up reading books again because I haven't finished one in a long time and I have realized that when reading nowadays, I just can't concentrate at all. I remember that I used to read a lot when I was a kid, i.e. when I was on Ritalin, but I stopped taking Ritalin in high school and stopped reading too.

I can only hope to read something that really interests me, reading anything else is almost painful (I get hot and bothered, flustered etc.). Then when I find something that interests me, the only way I can try to finish it is if I turn reading the book into a massive project where I make a schedule of reading sessions for a certain number of pages (20-30) over a number of weeks. I've done that for a few books so far and I still didn't even finish all of them. I only ended up reading a number of chapters.

These things make me think that I should try and get back on Ritalin. If it helps me then good, but if it doesn't then I'll stop. So, what exact process has to be gone through for me to get a prescription of Ritalin or something similar in Australia?

Note:
I drink coffer once a day. It helps me wake up but not to concentrate. I also exercise and take fish oil and ginkgo (apparently these last things are supposed to help you concentrate).

I'm confused by your question. Shouldn't the process be the same as when you were prescribed Ritalin previously?

I was recently prescribed Ritalin by my psychiatrist after trying Strattera to no avail. I'm curious, what dosage were you taking before you could concentrate?

More on topic, I would imagine you would see a psychiatrist or your doctor and explain your situation.

I was just wondering about the specific process I have to go through to see if I'm able to get a prescription for it. I Googled and couldn't find anything. As a child I think I went to a pediatrician.
