I notice that once in a while I get this HUGE headache. I've thought it might be migraines but I wonder if maybe its just because of my hypersensitivity with noises, bright lights and smell could be making it seem that way. My headache seems to worsen with these kind of things and I always wondered why...

Could it just be that my hypersensitivities with autism or possibly migraine headaches? Sometimes I do feel sort of nauseous with these headaches and they tend to get a bit better if I lay down or go away if I sleep but some of them don't and the can last for days and even weeks.

I try to take Tylenol for them... I'm allergic to Motrin (It makes me very sick) and I'm not much on other pain relievers since I tend to be very prone to getting sick on them... I've tried drinking things like coffee or caffeine which helps a little but then it just returns again...

I was only wondering what your takes are on this sort of thing and maybe you can help me decide if it is a migraine headache or just my AS/HFA worsening the headache due to sensory issues and making it SEEM like a migraine...

i've had bad headaches all my life, and yup, the big one for me was always shopping

bright lights, lots of noise, lots to look at

i also get eye strain headaches, but that's because im a tiny bit cross eyed.

ive had one "true" or classic migraine, the only thing i could compare it to was a freshly broken bone, but it was my entire skull. it also came with dizziness and nausea. i was rolling around on the floor in agony and had a friend drive me to hospital, i almost passed out due to hyperventilation. wasn't pleasant

however, i do often get aura migraine. which sometimes come with a headache, but are usually visual disturbances. (watery marks in fornt of my eyes) the severity varies but ive found it to be much better now i am no longer on the pill. a bad aura migraine will make it impossible for me to see a doorway, read, drive etc but clears within minutes. they can make me quite light headed sometimes too

my triggers seem to be greatly light based. blinking and flashing lights, bright lights...im finding driving at night almost unbearable and i don't step out a door without sunglasses, no sunglasses just about guarantees a headache or aura migraine

ive been getting bad headaches/shoulder aches for the past couple fo weeks too, but im hoping this will clear up once i had my wisdom teeth looked at next week :)

google up a few websites and read through the different signs, symptoms and types of migraine, you may have migraine or just headaches, either way you may be able to find a way to lessen them :)

Not a doctor. But I do get migraines. The light noise, sensitivity, nausea can be from a migraine. The way you describe going to sleep to get rid of it fits me to a tee. I was given my sisters meds (can't remember what) for them as a teenager, but I quit taking them when I went in the military. My sister makes regular trips to the ER for hers, so mine are not that severe, but it could be my high pain threshold. I do have light and sound sensitivities, but I've never noticed any relationship between the migraines and them. The ASD noise and light sensitivity affect me emotionally, whereas the migraine sensitivity just hurts my head. I've always said that if they get to the point where they are interfering in my life, more than just occasionally I would see a doctor about them. I may have one every other month or so, or sometimes 3 or 4 a month.

just adding that some people get bad headaches and migraine from certain food additives, artificial colouring and flavouring

as a kid i really didn't like having soft drinks, and even now im not really a fan and i still quite dislike lollies (i love chocolate though 8) )

something in the drinks and lollies was making my head hurt

I get migraines.

I take nortriptyline as a prophylactic and imitrex and naproxen when I do get one. The nortriptyline is enough to keep them away 95% of the time.

Well, my mom gives me one of her pain killers she takes for hers. Because my mom also gets them. I have on right now and I'm thinking if its anything, it could be related to my autism. I mean for an NT, a headache is just a headache but for me and with my sensory issues, it becomes twice as worse for me. I guess it would make sense.

I used to get really bad headaches/migranes that had to do with a combination of alergies and stress/anxiety. After I started going to therapy to learn to deal with my stress (which eventually led me to my AS diagnosis), I was put on some stress-reduction medication that seemed to curb those headaches. Now thankfully I don't have them anywhere near as frequently as before. I still get one every now and then, but they're not as severe and don't put me out of commission for as long.

Once, I got a migraine-type headache so bad I had to go to the doctor's office so they could give me a shot (it was some kind of narcotic painkiller, because I was extremely drowsy after they injected me).

I used to get migraines, and I'm sure part of it is genetic/hereditary,as my mother gets them as well. But in the past few years, actually this year,I am totally vegan, cut out wheat, use soy in moderation, drink enough water, exercise every day,I haven't had one this year.
A surefire tip for a migraine:
turn off the lights in your bedroom, douse yourself (especially under your nose,so you can smell it) with lavender oil, and just go to sleep. Also taking a hot bath scented with lavender oil is very helpful!

i used to get migraines but don't anymore because i stopped eating anything with monosodiumglutamate (msg). It is in almost all prepared food and snacks so i can't eat anything like that unless i am willing to have a migraine.
and i miss all the fun snacks and food.
