As of the last few months, I've been trying to seriously cut back on smoking. I've been doing it since around the age of 16 (roughly 5.5 years now). That's were e-cigs come in... a couple of packs of cartridges comes in every few weeks... and they've helped me cut back.

But there's a problem. I'm also a coffee drinker. Hardcore. And I've come to love the combination of smoking + coffee. The tastes compliment one another. E-cigs, however, do nothing to enhance the taste of coffee, and vice-versa. This causes me to light up a cigarette.

So coffee seems to be impeding my progress. I only hope I don't have to quit both of them.

Anyone else run into this?

you will probably learn to live without th cigarette with your coffee in time. How do you know that the flavours are good together rather than just liking the tobacco through habituation?

I think if you really want to give up cigarettes then you can still drink coffee. I don't mean to be insulting but i think that you are maiking reasons why smoking is an option. I have had the same experience in the past. If you want to give up you just have to realise that Tobacco is a brown scurge and should never be an option. dunno, perhaps that was just how i dealt with it. good luck

Interesting question. I shall ponder this.

I commend you for aiming to quit! I smoked cigarettes for awhile when I was a teen, and my experience was that I could not "cut down". I had to just quit flat out. I tried to cut down, but after a week, I'd find that I was actually at an increase! I quit once and for all about 18 years ago, and never touched a cigarette (nor any other smoking items) again.

Coffee drinking is still under debate. It can cause high pulse and high blood pressure, but it also has good properties. I think moderation in coffee is fine. I don't recall any need for coffee with a smoke, nor the other way around, but I did most crave a cigarette after eating a big meal. If that's the same thing as your coffee/smoke combination, you will eventually be perfectly happy with coffee alone, as I can eat a huge meal and not even think of cigarettes. That took a long time though; about 5 years for the thoughts or desire for a cigarette on a full stomach to completely go away.

I personally don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy coffee and cigarettes, especially together. Most of them, however, are contempt with their smoking and coffee drinking. A buddy of mine has recently started on E-cigs. He says that he has cut back smoking tremendously, but that only means that instead of finishing a pack and a half a day, he only finishes 3/4's of one so I don't know how effective e-cigs are. I'm indifferent personally. I enjoy both flavors on their own and am contempt with having one or the other by itself. Then again... I only smoke maybe 8 or 9 cigs a week??? A pack every week-and-a-half to two weeks... just my experience though.
