I wonder what is going to happen with this?

It's probably going to take away some, if not all of the NBA season.
Lockouts have never in my lifetime ended before a season started.

Given my disdain to how the NBA's business and politics work, I for one am glad the lockout happened. Remembering what happened to baseball after the '94 strike, that's pretty much what it took for the players and owners (who hated each other going back to the begining of the majors) to conduct their business better. Sure we had steroid-gate and another Yankee dynasty to deal with, but more pros than cons came out of the long-term fallout.

I only wish the referee's union was involved in this too. That way, things could start to get better overall for the game (note I said "game" and not "business") of basketball. But for now, I'll settle for watching the players, owners, and Stern sitting on their thumbs a starve themselves while they argue amongst each other.

It would seem that it might be worse than the '98 lockout.
The owners placed themselves in this predicament by overpaying some these hyped up players over the past 12 years or so.....

I hope they lose the whole season. I honestly believe that it would take something as drastic as that for fans and the NBA itself to realize that the league has become a broken system. You know what they say: "you don't know what you've got until it's gone."

Yes it has. The salary cap/luxury tax system is appalling, You've had silly salaries from players such as Antoine Walker (who is broke), Eddy Curry, Arenas, Rashard Lewis, Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, Dampier, the list goes on....

And the media attention the Heat received over the past year kind of blinded the NBA fans, per se. At least the casual ones.....

Not much of an NBA fan, but as a big hockey fan, I can say that the NHL Lockout in 2004-2005 was pretty awful. Resulted in the cancellation of the entire season. For the sake of basketball fans everywhere, I certainly hope there is a better outcome than what hockey fans had to endure seven years ago. A complete embarrassment to both sides if you ask me.

I have a bad feeling that it will be like the NHL lockout. I know that had to be rough for all of those Hockey fans, especially in Canada (I live in the South, and they don't care too much about hockey here, and I'm not much of a Hockey fan myself, but I respect all sports). The NHL seems to be doing better than any other major American sport as of now (maybe the MLB). Discrediting the NFL ending the lockout as well....

I think the greed and selfishness displayed by these people is appalling.
