I'm starting a running clinic in about a week and I was thinking once it ends, in the beginning of December, since the winter where I am, is supposed to be mild I'd continue running on my own over it so I can be built up enough(endurance wise) to go back to Running Room's 10K clinic in the spring. Now they(Running Room) suggests putting screws in the soles of your runners to promote grip on the ice but I don't want to ruin an expensive pair of shoes in the name of better grip. Can any runners out there suggest a cleat or spike that I could possibly use for winter running? Are there even cleats/spikes out there that are sharp enough to promote better grip on ice?
