I love to jump rope, it's a great cardiovascular excercise. I just got a speed rope and I do a 100 reps before I jog, hit the speed bag, and the punching bag. I've already lost alot of weight, and continue to lose more. So who here does has a jump rope?

i am too clumsy to jump rope, i just keep tripping over my own two feet when i try. but i recognize it as a great exercise, one that is as economical [in space requirements as well as equipment cost] as they come and that exercises the whole body [anaerobically and aerobically] as a unit. jack lalanne did it pretty well.

I prefer jumping rope in smaller fast intervals implicated into a high intensity circuit training program. Jumping rope for a prolonged time at a slow page will build your cardiovascular fitness and help you lose weight but you won't build much dynamic or explosive power. Uphill sprints are also good for building cardiovascular and lung capacity. I think the best thing to do is to incorporate it into a circuit like this.

Bur-pees x 1 minute
Jumping Jacks x 1 minute
Body weight Squats x 1 minute
Jump Rope Sprint x 1 minute

or

10 Bur-pees
10 Push ups
10 Body weight Squats
100 Jump Rope Sprint
Repeat 10 times
