I stopped using soap and shampoo completely in the shower, I only use it if I get like heavy car grease or something on me now. And washing my hands after going to the bathroom, before cooking, etc. I don't believe I smell, nobody's remarked anything, and my clothes smell the same before I put them in the wash, so yeah. For some people it works, for others it doesn't. What I believe happens is, when you use soap, you strip off all your body's natural oils and your body has to make more oils, so I believe by just using water, your body can adapt and just make less oil naturally. Hair, my secret for not shampooing hair, is you basically have to rinse it 5x longer than when you're using shampoo, as long as it's well rinsed, your hair will feel just as clean as with shampoo. I personally think my decision to not use soap has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I still use deodorant, aftershave after shaving, etc, so I'm still pretty hygienic regardless.
It's worth a try, for some people, it works, for some it doesn't. For me, it did.
