I am not trying to be funny.

I might have a health issue.

I used to have a bm just about every day.

For the past five months, I have been constipated and only going twice a week.

I just turned forty and I am wondering if this might be an age issue.

There seems to be constipation in my family.

How often do you have a bm?

Should I see a doctor?

A change in what your backside does should be investigated by the doctor, it might be a sign of something worse than just gummed up inside. How is your diet, are you getting the fibre you need ?

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

I tend to have a bowel movement daily. When I have been constipated, I noticed that it was following my having eaten a great deal of starchy food, such as potatoes, without having consumed any vegetables. I have also noticed that taking a dietary supplement, inositol, which is found naturally in fruit and vegetables, especially green beans, allows my 'leavings' to fall right out of me. I cannot advise you on seeing a doctor or not, but I would go myself if in pain or distress, or if I felt it was too long a period since my last evacuation.

my regularity became really regular when i improved my diet [no sugar or starchy stuff] and started vigorous exercise on a daily basis, sufficient to work up a good sweat. proper hydration is very important to good regularity, also.

Did you change your diet? If not, wouldn't hurt to have a check-up with the doc. And at the age of 40, your lucky day is near! You are eligible for the lower GI scope. Piece of advice, don't add alcohol to the gallon of laxative prep the doctor asks you to drink - not that I would know! Just read about the idea. The laxative is atomic. I can say that it is not a good idea to do anything that could impede your way to the restroom.

For constipation relief recall reading this article recently about different ideas to try.

Are you eating enough fiber and drinking enough water? Sometimes if a person doesn't have either to a sufficiant degree, then things get 'backed up.' Fiber makes things move a lot more often and water keeps the stool soft. You could try eating about 5-6 dried prunes daily and see if that helps, as prunes have tons of fiber and are well known for their laxitive properties. 8)

I would advise you to make and drink "green smoothies" every day or at least every other day and consume a healthy diet + more fiber rich foods. Green smoothies do not taste wonderful, but the benefits are there, and you notice them after your first or second shake then even more as time goes by. There is so many nutrients in green smoothies so it is obvious why it is so good for you. The fiber count is way high, and it feels like what you eat just slides ride out you. Since eating a healthier diet and the smoothies, things are way better for me.

My movements used to be annoyingly irregular, but now I only go in the mornings. And that's not by choice -- something changed in my body about three months ago that makes it literally impossible to have a movement in the evening. Strange, but at least there's a scheduled order to it now. Certain muscles literally just shut down in the afternoon and especially evening -- they are stuck on a circadian rhythm (the 24-hour biological clock by which various body processes wax and wane).

Wow! I just noticed, above, at 22:30 "bowel movmements suppressed", and at 8:30, "bowel movement likely". That must be what's going on with me, but much, much earlier in the day as far as the suppression goes. I blame age -- I hadn't changed my diet or anything, and I never was regular, or downright unable to go in the evening, before.

Do the students come back in when the "all clear" bell rings?
