Through the years I worked in manual labor I got myself damaged a few times and have had a gum graft on 3 or 4 occasions.
It involved taking a piece of bone from another part of my mouth and adding it to a prepared site previously damaged.
So much else was going on during the repair I hardly noticed it. Regrowth and healing wasn't painful and it all worked out well (considering the situation).
