Below is an image of Peruvian Indians who have followed a diet virtually devoid of processed garbage. Note the robust facial characteristics and well-developed teeth.

Below is an image of a descendants of Peruvian Indians who consume the white man's processed garbage. Note the facial characteristics and deformed teeth.

This is all courtesy of a dentist by the name of Weston A. Price who travelled the world several decades ago. His work can be found here: http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks02/0200251h.html

Discuss.

I could go on and on and on, this needs to be stickied for all aspies to see. I HIGHLY suggest a diet free of the white man's processed creations. Paleo is a good start.

Once again, his magnum opus can be found at http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks02/0200251h.html

PLEASE FELLOW ASPIES, HEED THIS KNOWLEDGE.

Lol. Ever since I started the paleo diet, my mind has started functioning better, and I now see that what you said was a joke. My pre-paleo mind would take it literally and wonder what you meant.

I also have the motivation and drive to actually type this and read the damn book. I am now messaging the mods to see if they can have this stickied. Pre-paleo I was nihlistic and wanted to kill myself and as many other people as I could.

Wow. Why didn't I know this sooner?

Modernized Seminole Indians near the same region:

I could go on and on, but I've made my point, I'll stop now.

These pictures ... there is no citation linking them to their alleged regions or current time. This puts them outside the realm of validated 'evidence'.

If the images were taken in Great Britain, the orthodontia alone would be much worse, but would still not be evidence of improper diet.

Unverified data = Irrelevant conclusion

No joke.

sugar is not good for one. a prudent person would try to minimize the sugar in one's daily food intake.

Are the people in the picture matched for age?

Even if they are, it wouldn't be difficult to go to a population of people and pick out a few to demonstrate whatever trend you wish to find.

So the pictures are pretty much meaningless.

And, for what it is worth, the text accompanying the pictures does not claim that the people in the pictures are following an American diet.

Not American per se. Rather they switched to "modern" (this was 80 years ago) processed foods and away from their traditional diet. This gets conflated with "American diet" because the U.S. has been such a strong cultural force in steering people around the world away from their traditional unprocessed diets. If anything, the problem has gotten a lot worse since he took those photos.

The photos are cherry picked. A truly unbiased sample would be to include tooth photos of everybody in the village in both photo sets. But I do take his larger point that the rate of tooth problems had gone up. I wish he hadn't focused so very much on teeth because that's pretty narrow but he was a dentist after all.

I often visit the site his followers set up but will not link it here because at the moment it seems to be infected with a virus.

His idea in short, which I agree with, is that traditional diets are healthier than post-industrial processed food diets. Like the OP I follow the Paleo diet which overlaps with Weston Price's diet in all areas except bread and beans (large areas, but still....).

It's more than just avoiding sugar and refined grains. There is a lot of cooking involved. A lot! But the only way to escape processed food and reap the health benefits is to commit to cooking. And there are significant health benefits. I'm not surprised WinterRain feels better. I do too.

It looks like the 'evidence' was fabricated to support the claim.

In other words, the thesis is yet another lame attempt at "America-bashing".

... I meant the information isn't new. I've known this for a long time. We eat nothing but crap in america. If it comes in a box or a plastic wrapper, is loaded with preservatives, artificial dyes/flavors, and god only knows wtf else, we can't get enough of it. And it's giving us cancer, making us fat, and killing us... And even though this information is readily available, most either turn a blind eye or simply don't care.
