Because I'm a male, have a reasonable amount of muscle mass, and am quite active (usually 2+ hours of exercise a day) I need like 3000-4000 (while on a deficit I need 3000ish, after I lose weight I'll be upping calories to probably 4000ish) a day. I've been having problems lately, as I've been nutritionally seeing the trees and not the forest. In my efforts to eat everything super natural/etc, I've been basically not getting consistent calories in. I'd eat a lot at night, etc. That and low energy, etc, from doing this.

So I need some ideas for high calorie things to eat that are relatively easy to prepare, relatively low fat (ie, not fried, or not using a cup of oil per recipe or something), and relatively unprocessed/natural. Protein isn't too relevant, I'm only aiming for like 20% of calories.

Maybe wraps and sandwiches could be a good idea? Nori rolls? I like instant noodles, one brand I buy uses noodles that aren't fried. I can never make a good broth/sauce for instant noodles when I try myself, though. I especially like, uh, Asian junk food. Like mochi cakes. Drinks, maybe some sort of sweetened iced teas or lemonades or something?

Basically, I want stuff I'd eat that's junk food/fast food calorie dense, but more nutritious/with less additives. Preferably something I can make and take with me places, too. I also am not really a "snacker" either, I don't have really any snack foods. I tend to either want a plate of hot food or a sandwich or something like that, and not like...chips or pretzels. So this is probably why my caloric intake is kinda low sometimes, my meals will be big, but no snacks.

So any ideas?

Avocados are high calorie, as are nuts - especially cashews. If you want to try a shake, I can give you a good recipe for one with a lot of calories.

Milk
Scoop favorite ice cream
One envelope instant breakfast
Powdered milk
Banana
Spoonfull or two of peanut butter
Weider powder or other weight gain powder
Honey
One raw egg

Mix that in a blender and drink it down. It's a bit chalky but it'll get the weight on you, that's for sure!

Organic pasta
Lentils
Brown rice
Fish
Chicken, chicken and more chicken.
Salad
Vegetables
Weight gain powder

Find out if there are any places near you that sell chicken and fish at a low price, a supermarket near me sells almost 5kg in chicken portions for £9.

Fruit or fruit juice maybe?
Apparently our ancestors supported their big brains by eating lots of meat and fish, so that might help. Many of the more intelligent species with brains that consume a lot of energy eat meat (crows and other corvids, chimps, dolphins, squids, canines and of course humans) and many low-calorie plant fiber eaters basically save energy by being incredibly stupid (sloths, who have low body temperature and are basically in permanent stand-by mode, and koala bears, who possibly devolved their brains to become more stupid and consume less energy.. both have a somewhat similar lifestyle, doing nothing and eating leaves that are hard to digest and contain few calories). I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think that even though meat may not contain that many calories, because it is easier to digest than plants (generally) it saves calories on digesting the food and the net result is higher. The same probably counts for most sugars and starchy foods.

You could go to your local whole food store and stock up on seeds / nuts (I hear pumpkin seeds are really good for you), then get whatever produce items you feel you need.

When you're ready to eat, just blend the items you want (ninja blender works best). Avocado, nuts, jalapeños, bananas, whatever sounds good. If you blend it, you won't have to cook it.

Avocados are extremely healthy and high in calories (a large one is 350 calories I believe). Try making a smoothie with a whole avocado, weight gain powder (whey/muscle milk/something like that), honey, or peanut/almond butter, and other high calorie but healthy foods. Experiment with it.
Good luck and enjoy!
