Why do Americans Yell

How did it come to pass that spectators yell out, right after the ball is struck, "Get in the HOLE!!" Is this only in America?

I don't know why, but a smirk crossed my face when I read this.

Don't spectators of sporting events everywhere yell, shout, and cheer?
What on earth makes you think it's only in America?
Are you talking about golf, where it's incredibly rude to make any noise during their swing?
Leaving them only after the swing to vocalize their support/excitement/passion?

I guess I'm not sure what your question is.
