I currently take yakult every day, washing down my daily vitamins and minerals in the morning.
I also have a serving of yoghurt almost every day, frequently mixing it with museli in my breakfast cereal.
So far it seems to help keep me from being overly anxious, and keeps my depression from consuming me.
I wonder if others have had a similar experience.
Research suggests that gut flora can impact on the severity of ASD symptoms, I'm curious to see if others have any personal experience of this being the case.

These probiotic stuff is nothing then a normal yoghurt, and because of being a yoghurt for most people a healthy food to support normal healthyness. But the only thing "extra" these probiotic yoghurts have, is the price. Eat an normal yoghurt as well, and you have the same advantage to a much lesser price. :)

In EU it has been forbidden for customers of Actimel and all that other "probiotic" yoghurt producers to tell people in their advertisements, that their yoghurt would be healthier then normal ones, simply because of them not being able to show any proof for it, and in the opposite independent medical research has proofen them not to have any advantage to any normal yoghurts, that all inherit all kind of bacterias, becaue of the way yoghurt needs to be produced.

Its like apples. If you eat an apple a day its healthy for you. Anyway if its an apple or if its an apple that the company creates an extra name for it like the "pro-vitamin"-apple.

I buy yoghurt powder and make the yoghurt myself in a yoghurt maker.
I know that the commercial branded yoghurts are full of sugar, and that the extra sugar makes the bacteria less effective, as the sugar loving bacteria dominates, throwing the balance out of whack.
Thanks for sharing, but I'm still waiting for others who actually use probiotics to share their experience, not just untested opinion.
I get your point and agree with you though, and the proliferation of "superfoods" just shows how labelling can be deceptive and tends to influence people who otherwise would likely make more sensible food decisions.
Advertising, marketing and big companies have a lot to answer for, but that could be a topic on its own.

I am sorry, if I misunderstood you. With the label probiotic, around here normally are mentioned all kinds of yoghurts that are from company like Nestle and so on, and that are not any else then any other normal yoghurt.

So I didnt know, that you meant an normal, natural done yoghurt, with the label probiotic. I tried to do selfmade yoghurt for some time on my own, but had problems because of the natural cultures needing normal cow milk, instead of that already sterilized of supermarkets and so on. Then you always had to keep a part of it and care for it like a plant, so that you could use that leftover for the new milk, to create yoghurt from that again. Additional you always had that work with sterilizing the pots, so that the fresh yoghurt didnt go bad that fast.

Because of us having many local diaries here, the additional work had no use for me, because of the diaries around here creating as well normal natural yoghurt, without any sugar added, so simply plain yoghurt, which is probiotic by itself. But if you cant buy normal natural yoghurt anymore around your place I would start creating that again, so I use yoghurt a well for cooking and sauces a lot, so having none would suck.

I am simply whondering about the "powder" you mentioned, and additional, if there are no more normal farms or diarys producing normal yoghurt anymore, where do you get the fresh cowmilk from?

I take one in tablet form once a day - an hour away from any food, usually before bed.
If you take them while eating or within an hour of food, they aren't as effective.

Certainly has had an impact on some of my symptoms, as well as my immune system and I do have less stomach trouble.
Mostly it stops me from being irritable or bloated, I've noticed.

The products I use are Easiyo (http://www.easiyo.com/index.html), and yakult (http://www.yakult.com.au/product01.htm).
I also sometimes use (http://www.hansells.com/ourfoods/browse ... Maker.aspx) in my Easiyo yoghurt maker; similar product different brand.
I also sometimes add a little milk, so that it is a bit more natural than if it was just water and their powders. In Australia all dairy products are legally required to use pasteurised milk, so there is little risk of food borne infection, especially as I use UHT type milk, which is both pasteurised and heat treated to add shelf life.
I find using the both products seems to keep me from feeling too bloated, helps digestion and seems to help keep me more regular.
I have noticed that when I stop using these products, or use them less regularly I have more bloating, constipation and or other problems, and that I seem more susceptible to infection, so I suspect it does have some sort of effect on my immunity and general health.
Very interested it see if others have had similar results.
I think also that having my gut and immunity in better health seems to reduce some of my more frustrating Aspie symptoms, like obsessiveness, and sensory oversensitivity. If this is the case, and not just placebo, it could be something everyone could do to make our lives a bit more tolerable, without necessarily "curing" our ASD.

I take Garden Of Life Primal Defense Ultra everyday. I don't know if it makes a huge difference but I keep taking it.

Probiotics aren't bad, but they don't last long, now, Powerade on the other hand last way longer, and come in loads of nice flavours. I'm taking raspberry, its an isotonic drink by the way, so will come with a boost to a regulated lifestyle
