What keeps you from feeling drowsy during the day?

daily vigorous outdoor exercise perks me up. but in the late afternoon, I will let myself take a brief nap of no more than 90 minutes, no later than about 4PM. short of that, I will take a caffeine pill which will get me over the late afternoon drowsiness hump. eating a diet of slowly metabolized food [no refined carbs] also helps with the alertness in general. when you feel drowsy you can also sniff on peppermint or drink peppermint tea, as well as eat something protein-rich like cheese or meat or nuts.
