I converted to being Vegan a little over 2 years ago mainly for reasons of ethics but it actually turned out to be the best way of eating in my entire life.

My cholesterol (bad AND good) is far better and also triglycerides - also my blood pressure is down. I have lost weight and can exercise more.

I feel better than I have in 25 years.

Just recently I added being gluten free to the mix, this is a much harder combination but it has lowered my headaches and even helped with meltdowns.

Sounds real good. (: Happy for you! I'm a vegetarian myself, for ethical reasons and it's probably one of the best decisions I've made in my life.

That's awesome! Eating healthy is a good choice :)
I am not exactly vegan. I mean, I don't eat pork, beef, chicken or any other meat or milk, but I eat fish. That's because my choice was for ethical reasons, and for me fishing is not unethical, but slaughterhouses are.

kinda depends on how they fish

the big nets pull in a lot of cetaceans and there really is not much doubt about sentience there and suffering - also certain types of fish have been way over fished and are actually dangerously depleting the oceans balance

one thing I found out (after being Vegan) was how much mercury was in some of the fish I had eaten and which ones to avoid or eat only so many a week

I am an ethical vegan, hardcore, but it is a lifestyle and not a diet for me.

I am frustrated and confused over the proliferation of this person or that person who says "eat THIS way!" or "eat THAT way!" or "don't eat either of those ways, eat MY way!!" vegans dissing omnivores, and vice versa. people saying meat is bad while other people saying the absence of meat is bad. I don't know  who am I supposed to believe?

"Bad" as in bad for you? You can start with the ones

who aren't on TV
aren't trying to sell you something
are healthy

my older sister who is a vegan/non-gluten/very active, is always ailing with one thing or another. my older brother who is a hard-core omnivore [it rhymes  ] has the constitution and strength of an ox and is never sick. but his diet is beastly. literally. I eat very little meat [mostly chicken/turkey/fish] and almost no refined carbs, am frail but seldom get really sick. haven't had a cold in ages. but I don't know if I'm that healthy since I am frail.

did you NOT read the title, I am and ethical Vegan for ME eating meat is a moral wrong I shame no other person for their decision

however I get yelled at all the freaking time for how dumb I am for caring about animals and the environment and how they are better and healthier than I am when in fact most of them are heavier and on medications and freak out when they find out I can ride my bike as far as 50 miles a day just to run around town when they even have trouble getting from the car to the store front.

ok - before when I was an Omnivore

cholesterol bad way over the top, good way too low, Triglycerides over 400 (which I was told was so high the cholesterol numbers were invalid) blood pressure 165/135. on meds for all of the above and having problems even just doing anything. AND anemic

Vegan, lost 35 pounds, able now to walk and ride my bike better, my doctor just told me I am one of only 3 or 4 patients who he has ever tested who had PERFECT test scores

I get colds/bronchitis every 4 years (born with asthma) other than that just the sleep disorder and migraines I have had since puberty and I take hormones since I am 51

I read the title, I am well aware of it, I was merely expressing something which had been bugging me for a while. sorry. I was not condemning you in the slightest.

this can be a problem in preparation or other wise,

I do know a lot of people think they have trouble with beans when in fact the main problem is most people don't cook them well enough, beans naturally have a defense mechanism and they must be well cooked to be consumed, possibly you need the same for other vegetables. also for many people who have rarely eaten them they do have to get used to eating the natural way again if you have accustomed your body to the unnatural chemical foods our society normally serves

semi-vegetarian here. proven scientific fact: on average, vegetarians live longer than meat-eaters. if it were just up to me, I'd be vegetarian, but I have a husband to consider. I cook for both of us. Mediterranean diet also proven helpful in preventing cardiac and mental decline, so for now I'm content to follow that. zip on the red meat. lots of veggies, nuts, olive oil, and fish.

what do you think of the news that most olive oils sold are either fake or rancid?
