Hey guys,

I've been eating healthy (or at least making a strong effort to do so) but as well you all know, you can't truly shed pounds and/or burn calories without getting in a fair if not moderate level of physical activity.

Now, walking around the neighbo(u)rhood is a good way to meet that end, and I usually enjoy it the most this time of year when it's not colder than (CENSORED) and it's actually quite pleasant first thing in the morning or at evening twilight. I really don't enjoy going outside as much when it's raining, snowing, and especially in thunder and lightning storms (which you really shouldn't be out in, anyway). My humble abode, sadly, does not allow much space for indoor exercise.

That being the case, maybe joining a recreational league by playing a sport would also help out in some way. It's probably too late for summer sports, but maybe in the fall, perhaps.

Alright, I'm done rambling on. Your thoughts?

Can you join my Ultimate team? We start next Wednesday and need players!

On all seriousness, my brother suggested I try this to meet new people. I laughed and told him I only play "real" sports, not a sport played by tree hugging hippies. I decided a couple of years ago to try it and I was hooked. It is actually really tough and the caliber of people is usually excellent. Met some great people and lost a ton of weight! I HIGHLY recommend it. Most of the guys were not only in tip top shape but were also very fair and helpful, not the typical "Alpha" males.

Joining a running club, if that fits your definition of a sport. Nothing beats just just strait up running especially when it comes to getting in shape. Also I'll second GiantHockeyFan's opinion. Some of the guys in the "mainstream" sports recreationally, say like flag football or basketball or whatever, just want to exert meaningless dominance over other people. This is of course not to say those activities should be avoided or that there aren't good people there.
