Anyone got any great smoothie recipes to share?

What about protein shake recipes?

Preferred protein powders?

I'd like to get into shake making, but I can't find a good protein powder. Good being defined as one that blends well, isn't gritty, doesn't leave a funny aftertaste, and doesn't do strange things to my stomach.

I've had smoothies before made at actual smoothie bars, and I really liked them, but I've tried to whip one up at home, and it never tastes as good.

I make this smoothie 3 - 4 times a week:

water 1cup
Vega vegan protein powder (chocolate)
bananas 2
pineapple 2 slices
blueberries 1/2 cup
kale 2 leaves
chia seeds 1 tbsp

I use Vega protein powder because it tastes good (only the chocolate one. other flavors aren't as good imo) and I'm avoiding whey powder.

I put everything in a blender except chia seeds which I add at the end and blend for 5 more seconds. I usually use frozen pineapple and blueberries so it will be cold.
It makes about 1 quart. I like it because it's not too sweet.

I have been using this brand for about a year and I like it.

Giant Sports Delicious Protein

I have the chocolate+peanut, plain chocolate, and vanilla, and they're all good. They blend VERY easily in water or milk.

I actually put a 1/3 scoop of vanilla with my yoghurt in the morning; and I like choc+peanut in cold milk, it tastes very luxurious.

Just remember, you don't build muscle or lose fat just by eating protein; you build muscle by putting your muscles under heavy resistance; and most people are already eating way too much of everything - that includes eating way too much protein.

Good luck!

Swanson Premium, they have their own website. They have the best protein I have ever had, it is worth the money. No artificial junk and it's really smooth. It's the only protein powder not to give me heart burn.

Sounds like a great smoothie- certainly better for me than lemonade. I think I'll replace the water with ice though since it's summer and ice and icy cold water taste better than room temperature water. Thank you.

Must be the brand you're using. I'll see if I can give it a try. Thank you.

I lift weights and run almost every day, I eat healthy, and my BMI has always been in the low end of healthy. I'm just trying to be as healthy as possible, and the taste/feel/effect on my stomach is something that always kept me from making it part of my routine.

It looks reasonably priced, but now with multiple suggestions, I'm wondering if I can get samples from a store somewhere. I guess I'll have to write each company and hope for the best.

That does sound really promising. Thanks!
