Avoiding Sugar And Changing My Diet
Anyone else avoid sugar in their diet? I'm talking about the bad sugar, like the kind we put on our cereal.
I've consumed a lot of sugar of the years, and now when I have sugar, it makes my teeth really sensitive. Also, I prefer to avoid sugar, because it's bad, for your teeth, and your body.
I don't think there is anything good that comes from sugar, except energy, which I don't think it worse it. You can get that from other foods.
I would put a lot of a sugar on my cereal, and there was a time, where I could drink at least 6 cans of soda a day. I sorta went back to that for a month or two over Christmas break, I would drink about a half a gallon of Pepsi a day. If I continued doing that, I would probably lose my teeth within a few years, cavities, also would increase my risk for Diabetes. I'm surprised I don't have Diabetes, because my diet was really poor. processed foods (subs, wieners, balongna, etc), occasionally Kraft Dinner. I'm kinda surprised that my health isn't as bad as I would expect from someone like me, the diet that I had. I have an irresistible appetite for hot dogs. Also, Pepsi and cold cut subs from FoodLand, and chips, are the best! I haven't had it since Christmas break. I hadn't had a sub in over a month, at least. I haven't had any other fast food, for over 6 months. At least, when I get a sub at Subway, I get spinach, instead of lettuce, which is better. I make it a rule to only eat that stuff during holidays, like Christmas, or New Years.
I'm glad I've changed my diet and started exercising. I love when I feel healthy and fit. I got quite a way to go still, before, I reach my goal.
I am confident, I can can and will change and be healthy. ![]()
I'm glad that you are changing your diet before you get any illness. I agree it feels good to be on healthy diet and to have a healthy lifestyle. Once you get used to the healthy diet, you will start enjoying the taste of healthy food even more. It's a positive cycle where you are motivated further by your achievement.
I love sweets (cakes, pies, cookies etc) but I control the amount that I eat. I was (for no reason) really worried about getting diabetes a long time ago and forced myself to stop using sugar in my coffee and tea. Now I truly enjoy unsweetened coffee and tea. If I have to sweeten something, I tend to use stevia or xylitol as they are "natural", have a very low GI and are recommended for diabetic people and anyone who are health-conscious.
