Any Aspie bowlers in the house?

I went bowling yesterday and much to my complete surprise, I didn't do too bad. I even got a couple of strikes, one was without the ball touching the bumpers. I was all ready to be bummed out because I have been bowling once before with the ball going in the gutter every time. Yesterday, first time I rolled the ball, it didn't go near the bumpers and knocked all the pins down but one. I was mystified. That never happened before. I paid for an hour and by the time it was up, I genuinely believed my Bowling Fairy Godmother was there, looking over my shoulder. I blame my bad bowling experiences on never being comfortable with the bowling balls. They always felt too heavy and I felt off balance or something so I couldn't roll straight. Yesterday, I found one I could deal with.

This is only the second time I have ever been in my adult life. I went with my mom and her friends when I was too small to roll the ball the proper way.

Now I have muscles aches. I didn't think bowling would be that strenuous.

I've bowled for over twenty years. Above any other sport, I've always considered bowling a fun leisure activity, and a nice way to unwind. I can't recall my highest score, but it was somewhere in the 250 range.

Admittedly, I'm not so much into it as a sport as I am just the cultural aspects of bowling; it's a prime slice of the anachronistic mid-century Americana which enthralls me, everything from outdated bowling shirts to the tacky carpet patterns to the incredible architecture of most '50s-era bowling alleys. It's simply wonderful.

I'm actually abnormally good at bowling, even though I rarely participate in it. It's interesting, but my local alley is a sensory nightmare, so... :?

I grew up watching the Professional Bowlers' Tour on Channel 7 in NYC. Chris Schenkel and Nelson Burton Jr. were the main hosts.

I sucked at bowling as a kid, but I scored a 222 when I was in my early 20s. I could probably average at least 120, should I start again.

I bowled after pinboys became obsolete, and before automatic scoring.

I like bowling, it's relaxing. It's one of the only sports that's relaxing.

I like bowling, though I'm really bad at it and often get frustrated doing it. I have to do it the two-handed way instead of the "proper" way.

My school, Portland State University, has a bowling alley in the basement of one of the buildings. I've tried it a few times and liked it a lot. I intend on bowling there at least on a weekly basis when I return to school
beginning this Monday.
