First let me say that I'm going to go to the doctor and get a referral to the eye doctor and get it taken care of, but until I can manage to get there, I'm going to worry about it. I've needed glasses for a long time but lately I've noticed that the vision in my left eye has something else going on than just not focusing well. It's a bit dim, and also I've got a blank spot in that eye that I was able to find out by staring straight ahead and moving my finger in my field of vision until it disappeared. It wouldn't only do it near the edge like normal, it does it in the middle of my field of vision. This isn't good. I haven't looked up what it can be because I don't want to worry myself more than I already am, and it's not something I can do anything about before I go to the doctor.

I'm just worried. I'll let you know what it turns out to be.

I hope it is not to serious, and that something can be done about it.

Hey OliveOilMom.

Getting that checked out is the best thing you can do for yourself. In the meantime though, I would suggest wearing sunglasses when you're outside or even driving during the daytime if you haven't already. Do your eyes usually get dry? If so, then consider buying those lubricant eye drops available over the counter. If you're looking at a computer screen often during the day, then try taking a 5 minute break every hour or so to relax your eyes. Hope that helps.

The "blank spot" sort of suggests macular degeneration. Google it as there's online tests. My father has that condition in his right eye, supposedly caused by burst blood vessels, IIRC. He now gets painful shots in his eye from an optometrist to help delay progression of vision loss.
