I got the results of my bloodwork in the mail today & my cholesterol is high(higher then last year) I'm kind of surprised that it's higher than last year but not surprised that it's higher than it should be. I really need to start exercising more regularly & eat alittle more healthy which was mentioned in the paperwork. I'm wondering if there's any supplements I could take that would help lower it too :?:

eat less sugar. sugar consumption causes low density lipoproteins to build up and clog arteries. also if you drink alcohol cutting back will help. essential fatty acids help build high density lipoproteins that can get rid of their low density counterparts.

I already take fishoil & I'm not a tea drinker.
I didn't know that stuff about sugar seaweed.
I'm thinking of trying Garlique too but wondering if there's anything else to look into.

the AHA and FDA f****d up and blamed saturated fats for high bad cholesterol because higher fat intake meant higher cholesterol and higher cholesterol meant higher risk of heart disease, but in the studies they failed to ask what cholesterol type the fats were increasing, so a=b and b=c but a does not = c in this scenario. and so "low fat" became the new healthy choice, and processed food companies started lowering the fat contents of their products, but then that made their products taste like cardboard, so they added more sugar to compensate for the taste.

True. Also to the OP, cook in healthy fatty oils. Coconut oil, olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil.

actually, alcohol raises good cholesterol, which is why folks who drink moderately live longer than folks who never drink. moderate drinking is one drink (5 oz wine, one shot liquor, 12 oz beer) per day for women and two for men.

Alcohol lowers testosterone. Besides the obvious organ damage alcohol does, it is terribly acidic. Having acid reflux, if I so much as take a sip of alcohol, I am in agony.

I don't doubt that moderation is the key, but still, ethanol is metabolized in the same way as fructose, however ethanol is thought of as acutely metabolized and fructose is thought of as obtusely metabolized. does fructose lower testosterone too? and in that respect, lower testosterone levels aren't the worst thing that is happening here

Cholesterol is an indication of other problems. It is not a problem within itself.

Try going gluten free. If you address the core problem, your cholesterol will drop to much healthier levels.

Consume more soluble fibre like ground chia seeds, psyllium husk, and or ground flax seed in your diet.
