Bummer. I remember picking up a poster similar to this one

at a Burger King back when I was a kid. (Lemon used to do promotional ads for the fast food chain)

I remember seeing the Globetrotters first on the Ed Sullivan show of all places when I was around six.
Also I bet nobody remembers the team also released a vocal record (outside of their trademark "Sweet Georgia Brown" instrumental)...

What I find most stunning is that he was the same age as my father.

I remember Meadowlark well with the Globetrotters. He was the lead Globetrotter. He was a trip!

The Harlem Globetrotters will always be my favorite basketball team, thanks to Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neal, Abe Saperstein, and the rest of the madhouse crew!

I've seen a lot of well-balanced folks master basketball spinning on their fingertips, but Meadowlark and his teammates were the only ones I can recall that were able to keep them twirling on their toes as well like in the BK promo shot. Here's one more example from a trading card:
