After a roughly month-long bout of on-off fullness in the ear, tinnitus, and within the past week and a half vertigo, an ENT doctor has diagnosed me with possible Meniere's disease.

Is there anyone else who has had this diagnosis or a more definite diagnosis of Meniere's disease come up?

My mum has that. So does my uncle Steve, my mum's brother

Anyway, following up that ENT said it didn't look like I had Meniere's due to the test coming back negative. My earwax a month ago was fair, and the earwax there was cleaned out at my doctor's office.

However, I had a bad bout of vertigo today. It started when I was coming home and was at the bus stop after getting off the train. I decided to lie down a bit, but when I did so I noticed some really bad vertigo, as it felt like everything was spinning around my head. The vertigo seemed to fluctuate a bit. When I got up after a few minutes of lying down, I had some difficulty with my balance, but didn't fall. This seem to come on and off over the past few hours, and I just had a bout now, so I lay down. When I did so, I noticed tinnitus. My right ear suddenly felt less full, and the tinnitus there seemed to switch off. However, the tinnitus has continued on and off in my left ear, accompanied by a feeling of fullness. The tinnitus sounds like a low-to-medium-pitch ringing or humming sound.

The tinnitus sounds like the simulation at 3:36 in the video below, except that my tinnitus has a much lower pitch (down to maybe 500 Hz if I'm matching the sound to my tinnitus on Audacity correctly) and is not as "loud":

EDIT: I just had a partial abatement in my left ear, and it started feeling less full.

I got up tired this morning, but the vertigo and tinnitus and fullness in the ear are gone.

EDIT: Had a brief bout of tinnitus and fullness in my right ear.

My tinnitus usually resembles this Emergency Alert System sound, except that my tinnitus seems to have a somewhat lower pitch:

If you can play the sound and record it in Audacity, you can lower the pitch a little to the 600-700 Hz range, which is about the same as the pitch of the tinnitus I hear.

It keeps feeling like I'm moving and I feel real queasy, like I'm about to throw up. My right ear seems to have joined in on the act, and I keep hearing that buzzing tone. I also notice that when I hear certain tones in my right ear, the tones keep repeating in my right ear at random times, even though I'm not actually hearing them.

My mom has it. And has for years and it keeps getting worse. From what I understand it typically only affects one ear, else it's given a different diagnosis.

You may want to get a second opinion. I am of the impression Meniere's is one of those things that gets often overlooked for years before a definitive diagnosis is even given.

I'm wondering if it's my right ear that's the problem and I misidentified. I tested my hearing on my phone using Sound Check, perhaps the best audiogram freeware there is, and it shows mild low-frequency hearing loss in my right ear. I had problems with tinnitus during the test, as it seemed too loud for me to get the quieter tones. Of course, if you're tinnitus is "too loud", what that means is your ability to hear things quieter than the tinnitus is gone. There are issues in both ears from the Sound Check (which of course does measure up to a full audiology test), with slight low-frequency hearing loss in my left ear.

A few minutes ago, and this happens has happened a lot over the past couple days, my right ear would suddenly feel full, and this would be accompanied by loud tinnitus, before it diminishes along with the fullness.

I'm going to try to get in to see a doctor I have an appointment on 7/21. I've left a message for my doctor's medical assistant.

Recent events in the U.S. have kinda taken my mind off this whole thing, which is good.

I see my primary care physician on Friday.

I've been having a lot of episodes of vertigo lately. It can feel like one of these 3 things:

1.) Being rocked by ocean waves
2.) Spinning counterclockwise
3.) Ocean waves just starting to sweep me off my feet

It tends to be aggravated by movement, especially intense movement.

I still have the fullness of the ear, and just had it tonight in both ears it seems, accompanied by tinnitus. It feels like something becoming sealed in my ear.
