By people, I mean my family. So I know I'm overweight (chunky, not obese). I tried bringing up the issue to my mother before, but she clearly doesn't care about my health. Then I talked to my father and grandmother about it. My father said, "Well...you are tall." Possibly, but I still shouldn't have this fat. I feel sick every time these fatty foods are shoved into my system. What am I supposed to do? I know I'm meant to be healthier. Of course misguided people consider the internet a basic right, but not healthy food. Maybe this is why the Western World (one country in particular...) is so obese.

I used to always peel off thick fatty breading of chicken before eating just the chicken. I even remember that coming up in conversation between the adults. One really athletic guy said that was a healthy thing to do. This was way back in the mid 70s.

Exercise is a great thing help help burn calories. I just got a Fitbit. I also cut out sofa for the most part.

If you have a Fitbit I created a Fitbit group for WrongPlanet.

Thanks for the offer. I sadly do not have a Fitbit. I spent most of my money on grammar books (not even English ones, Spanish). I wish you luck on your Fitbit journey.

Okay, you can get a pedometer pretty cheap (twenty dollars or less on amazon). Getting steps in can help heart functioning and burn calories. One big recommendation is more water. Another thing is stay away from orange juice, it is high in sugar. I have never been overweight I have to admit, but I have seen the struggles that being overweight causes. I have a lot of overweight family members.

I've also been experimenting with different types of my favourite drink, milk. I hopped from 1% to 2% and back numerous times. I keep hearing things about which one is healthier. Apparently 1% has less fat, but 2% has more vitamins. I quit soda entirely, I'm working on the water. My issue is that I don't control my own diet. I'm a teenager as you can tell. My mother buys everything and she refuses to get rid of all the fatty foods.

I know this sounds weird, but when you are in season you can plant a garden. Taking care of the plants can get a workout and the food is healthier. You could convince your mom to get the same thing, but slightly healthier.

My family doesn't have a yard. Do you know of any plants that can grow in limited spaces?

I grow dwarf Tomatoes indoors. If you want a regular supply seedlings can be eaten. People put wheatgrass in a jar and after a few days you can turn it into food. You can do that with a large amount of plants. Another tip is watch calories. Eat the food you usually do but less.

The idea of gardening is super nice – I started eating healthier like this :D so you can involve your family and maybe they will even start liking healthier stuff. Anyway, try to get involved in the food making – try to go to the grocery shop together with your mother, suggest new recipes, etc.

Also, can't you go to a doctor? Maybe having some kind of authority advising your family about it will make them take it more seriously.

It's not your parents you should be talking to about your weight problem, it's your doctor. You should ask your doctor to write you a perscript for Phentermine post haste!
