Are there any NEGATIVE effects on the body associated with being overweight due too muscle?

If you mean overweight in a BMI sense, no. Not if there are no muscular imbalances anyway. More muscle equals more strength so even with an increased body mass you won't be negatively impacted, unless maybe you're one of those Guinness world record body builders who look like the hulk.

A lot of muscle can put a strain on joins though?
