This is a bit rhetorical, however it struck me that while "self-interest" is generally the main motivator for people due to genetics, I remembered how baffling is it to me that regular folks can become so incredibly passionate over sports teams' and athletes' success that in no concrete way actually benefits them personally.

So perhaps we could leverage this, presumably evolved, instinct in humans to get them passionate about helping others with mental health???

I think we've seen clearly that you can not legislate "caring" and how disastrous introducing ideologies that try to force-change evolved instincts "overnight" can be (ie communism). This can be a way to leverage human instinct rather than trying to change it on a whim.

I guess this sort of happens with things like walking/running fundraisers but perhaps there is potential for something more (over maybe I am overlooking something else).

Just an idea to ponder.

There are designated Mental health. Months usually full of local events.

There are also Mental Health first aid classes.
They won’t turn you into a therapist but will increase your knowledge.
