Last week I had rather a bad cold which is 99% over now. Since it was quite cold here, I didn't go out to exercise. That was the right call, I'm sure, but I got deconditioned by 10 days of doing nothing.

So the past 3-4 days I have dragged and pushed myself to do my normal exercise routine, but I'm aching, and even minor household tasks are hurting. I think it's a fibromyalgia flareup. It's very hard to get motivated to move, when even the slightest movement causes pain. Thank heavens I don't very often come down with illness.

I hope you feel better soon, Bea!

I know I can backslide pretty quickly if I don't keep up on my brisk hour walk each weekday.

I so envy you! When I was in high school and college, I walked everywhere, even walked when I had no place to go, just loved walking. Due to an incomplete spinal cord injury, I now ride most places on a mobility scooter, can walk only short distances using a walker. People do take walking for granted until they cannot do it any more.

I'm sorry about your injury.

I do feel fortunate to be able to walk. In my younger years I used to run for exercise but that was so hard on my body and resulted in a pretty bad slow healing injury that halted running abruptly.

I'm able to do my best thinking when I walk. In the past, the greater the dilemma, the longer distances I would walk until I "figured things out".

It's a huge stress reliever for me. Do you do stretches of any kind? That's one thing I'm very lax about and my body has suffered because of it. Sadly, I'm extremely inflexible. Decades in a sedentary sitting position for work hasn't helped in that regard. I know stretching would help but I avoid it since it's not a habit or part of my routine.

I sometimes do stretches, beyond what is offered in my exercise class. Mentally, I have a hard time making myself do things even if I know they are good for me.

You can reverse the inflexibility somewhat, I recommend a yoga class as a good start, as long as you don't try too hard to outdo the advanced students!

I think I would benefit from yoga. Thank you for the suggestion.
