Why might some people assume just because a man is ‘short’ he can’t have a good ‘physique’?

I honestly didn't know this was a thing.

I was talking too my mom (who is 5ft1) the other night about how celebrity Dermott O’Leary has a good physique and she said “no he hasn’t he’s really short”

Soccer player Lionel Messi is another example of a guy who has a ripped physique yet not a lot of people think he has ha good body just because he’s short. Taller guys like Cristiano ronaldo, David Beckham and Brad Pitt get praised for there bodies

Your mom is actually wrong--no unwritten rules say men have to be 6' or taller to develop good musculature.

I'm right around six feet and I wish I could gain some muscles. I'm actually underweight and for a long time I was severely underweight.

But I look sharp with clothes on, and as I'm not married nobody's seen me with them off, to know I really look like I escaped a concentration camp in Korea.

Might be that you mean "physique" in the sense of physical fitness and well-developed musculature, while your mother might have meant it in the wider context of overall bodily attractiveness. Taller men are generally seen as more attractive, but I don't think I've ever heard it suggested that they can't be just as ripped.

Women don’t tend to like overdeveloped physiques.

They prefer men who are well-proportioned, have some muscle, but are not muscle-bound.

I can't speak for other women, because we are all individuals and like what we each like. However, I've only ever dated one guy who was super fit, and it wasn't all that great. He constantly wanted to show me how strong he was, and wanted to compete with me at every single sport or physical thing we did. One day I had enough and just kicked his butt in endurance sit-ups, as in- more than twice as many as he could do. Poor dude had no idea what he was getting himself into.

Anyway, bad attitudes aside, I actually prefer being with partners who aren't super ripped, even though I'm really fit myself. Otherwise there's this risk of bruised hipbones... besides, I think a little FUPA is kinda sexy

As for height, I have dated short men before, none shorter than I am, but then again I'm not that tall myself. I don't think anyone shorter than me has ever asked me out.... well any men anyway
