Or does anyone know anything about it.

Every now and then I have a really powerful dream/nightmare and when I wake up out of it I have the feeling of an electric current running through my feet. It's really quite painful and unpleasant and it lasts for ages or until I get out of bed.

It happened to me last night so that's why I'm posting this. I have tried to search for it on Google before but I've had no success.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced it or if anyone has any insight to it.

I have had something similar before and for similar reasons. I wonder if it’s related to severe muscle spasms from intensely tensing one’s muscles. Tensing one’s feet in such a dream would make sense because there is probably a very strong desire to run or get away from whatever is happening in the dream.

Yeah that might be what it is. I'm trying to remember the dream. I think there was running involved in it.

It is horrible though. It's as though my feet have been connected to an electrical cable or something.

Thank you for your help.

Do you get cramps sometimes when you're lying in your bed, awake?

Sometimes, when it's somewhat cool in my apartment, I get cramps to the extent where I have to get out of bed and walk around.

I get really bad restless leg syndrome to the point where I have to get out of bed and stretch and even then it doesn't stop.

I have woke up with cramp in my calf muscle.

I find it so darn ironic that I love air-conditioning----but that air-conditioning leads to me sometimes having to get out of bed and wander around because of cramps.

That's interesting to hear. We don't have AC in my flat so it can't be that.

So....cold doesn't cause your cramps at all? You get them even when you're hot?

I had restless leg syndrome but apparently it was because I was eating or drinking dairy after lunchtime.

It's something to do with it causing an immune response.

It was at the absolute worst when i drank lattes at nighttime, and when i used to drink a whole pint a day to make sure i wasnt missing out on calcium.Absolute agony at night-time.

Well i should say I have it, but its under control.

I'm glad you found a cause for it.

I don't drink anything apart from cordial after about 6:30pm. I don't have sugar either and I only have a drop of milk in hot drinks. And I only have about 4 hot drinks a day.

I think my rls is an on going nerve issue that I've got going on as it affects me during the day as well.

I was just interested to hear if anyone had the electric current feeling in their feet after a nightmare.

I hate to sound over dramatic but it feels like I'm tightroping along a live electric cable when it happens.

I haven't had that, precisely.....but I've had sharp, cramping pains upon waking up in the middle of the night.

Maybe it's related to a similar thing. I'm also wondering if it has anything to do with my spinal injury but then surely something would have shown up on the scans.

It may be worth a mention at the spinal clinic.

Well I had my bloods taken a few weeks ago and was pleased to find that my blood sugar, cholesterol and everything else was normal.

I've actually been OK since I made this thread. I've not even had the restless leg syndrome.
