Yesterday I bumped into this woman who I last saw in the summer of 1997. She is now wrinkly with grey hair but when I spoke to her back in 97 she had blonde hair and no wrinkles at all.

My question is how could someone look that much older given that 1997 was not all that long ago?

That's roughly 25 years or somewhere around a third of the typical lifespan. And probably about half the journey from being a young adult to being wormfood.

That could be anything from genetics, to smoking to excessive amount of time outside.

She’s 67 by the way. 1997 was 26 years ago.

That's typical of people in that 25 year span.

You're gonna look like a geezer at her age too.

My dad looks young for his age at 64 so I am assuming I will to.

You might, but you'll still probably have grey hair and wrinkles. Looking young for your age at that age can include grey hair and wrinkles because most people have both before their mid-60s.

I still think of the 1990s as quite 'recent'.

Maybe a clock has become stuck in my head - is this an ASD thing?

I’m 67 and I look a proper geezer. Quite cool really.

I went to a family funeral last weekend. Several of my cousins who I hadn't seen since 2015 looked markedly older, and that was only 8 years ago. Changes over 26 years would definitely be visible. A couple of my cousins looked the same after 8 years, though.

Yeah me too. It's as if it's only yesterday to me.
