I don't mean that in a "I'm scared of the dentist" kinda way, I mean in the way of struggling with having stuff in their mouths. I'm thinking this is a sensory issue that I have, but I've never had a word for it.

I've used all kinds of techniques to make it better, I'm generally okay with procedures, because I've had to learn how to make it work (focus on breathing in through the nose). But X-rays do not work for me and I can't make them work.

I just had a root canal and they could only get any kind of pictures done when they put my mouth to sleep to do the root canal. I had a really rough time when they just tried doing the x-rays and pictures a few weeks ago. The office was about ready to give up me, telling me that if they couldn't do it the next time, they'd have to refer me to somewhere else!

Does anyone else struggle with this and have you found techniques to make it better? To put it more clearly: I'm very sensitive to the sensation of things in my mouth. I start gagging and it's hard to get things done.
