Aging Aches & Pains
I'd advise telling your doctor about all of your aches and pains. They're used to it anyway. But the important thing is dangerous things can seem like innocent things and visa versa. Just explain to your doctor that you'd like a check up, include all your aches and pains, let them work out what is what. They'll eliminate the safe stuff and you can go forward from there.

I agree with this. I'm doing a whole-body overhaul in recent months. When I first went to my doctor in May I told her I had a huge list of things but didn't want to overwhelm her or plow through them all at once, and I was scared of looking like a hypochondriac because I have an anxiety disorder. Considering I have a complicated medical history and everyone in my family ends up with cancer (she knows them all and she's their doctor too), she was OK with the idea of me going every couple of weeks as I work through my list.
They get paid for their time so if you go prepared to each appointment and tell them what you're feeling and what you think might be wrong based on a bit of research, they'll be respectful. Just make sure you don't talk over them or try acting like you know more than they do. If it's something where you're really concerned and you don't want to take no for an answer, start by saying "I'd like _____ test please" and be persistent within reason.
If a doctor refuses to refer you for a test or a specialist ask them to make note of their refusal in your chart. Most doctors don't want it in the notes that they refused service to someone because heaven forbid you end up with a disease process down the road you could potentially sue them. (Not that you likely would, but they're liable.)

Very interesting my very appropriate posting to this thread in the last hour, suggesting that this person see a , naturopath ...and if the do not , to make sure they take a witness with them to see any MD ..whom in my opinion benefits by extending suffering

Thank you all so much for your input! The Dr. is a D.O., insurance doesn't cover naturopaths, sadly. When I filled out the form to request becoming this Dr.'s patient, I made an exhaustive list of my issues, so hopefully that will be good and not result in the eye-roll attitude. If things go ok this visit, I want to make sure I do things right going forward. I've never been much for actually going to the Dr. unless I really had to. A bout of cancer that started just before covid has me doing things a bit differently.
Sorry but have seen modern day DO,s go the easy route of treating ( interveiwing) masses as oppose to taking time to address stuff, I pray you have a good Doctor of Osteopathy, sorry on no funds for ND but it is a big deal in the diagnostic treatment you get most often. Time will tell . The learning curve was very steep for me . Most allopathic doctors i have seen do not like or want to address systemic illnesses. Even infectious disease doctors, whose job it is .
Seem to prefer assembly line treatment and saving insurance companies money . Please ..! if you cannot get someone to go with you , take a small tablet and write down, all revolent things down to ask and especially more important, your doctors responses ,Right in front of him. This is important in getting your moneys worth out of any doctor.
But if you have any ability to get someone to go with you.PLEASE Do !( Just for the time inside with the doctor)
You also have the right to ask your insurance for another opinion or just change doctors based on inability to feel comfy with him/ her . Your "health" is THE most important thing you can have "in your entire life" , very possibly making investing in seeing a quality ND a good investment . [ personally 3 yrs working as a Allopathic professional "nurse" ,40 years as active consumer (victim )of allopathic services due to both physical and systemic/ congenital illnesses] Best Wishes with your future Appointment and your future health.

Most likely my husband will go with me, but if not, I use an app called Abridge that makes transcripts of doctor visits. It was super helpful during all my cancer apointments when I had to go alone because of covid. Thank you so much for the tips! I'm praying that I click with the doc and that she's good. I'm not sure my anxiety can handle trying another doc if this one doesn't work out, I'd probably just not go.
