Aged 20 I was built like a brick s**t house when I went to the gym.

Nowadays I look quite skinny even though i am slightly overweight according to BMI. I still lift weights at home with free weights and kettle bells etc…. According to my dad at 19 my waist was size 36 at my height of 5ft8 but these days it’s more like 32.

Do you think it’s strange that I have gone from a big guy to a skinny man between ages 19-34? It’s like a mesomorphic guy turning into an ectomorph.

The opposite has happened to me.

I have almost doubled in weight since being in my early twenties.

My shoulders width looks like it has doubled almost and my back looks like a wrestler's back compared to the skinny dude I once was.

I think it more common to put on weight as one gets older, rather than the reverse.

I'm no expert on these things but I would think that it's normal for your body to change over the course of almost 20 years (for some people anyway)

I think women may have the opposite problem of our waistline being smaller when young and then getting wider with age especially after having children and the toll that can take on our bodies.

As long as you're not losing weight because of a health condition then I don't think it's an issue. If you're a body builder and you wanna get bigger then I'm sure there are supplements you can use along side your training regime.

I guess I have gone the reverse then because at my heaviest aged 20 I weighed 174-182 lbs and at my skinniest only three years later I weighed in at only 137 pounds.

Me being thin was probably due to over exercising, dieting and depression.

I didn’t need supplements to get big when I was 20. I just simply used those special weight machines at the gym. 4 years ago joined my local gym for half a year before covid struck and even when using machines I could just not put on muscle like I used to.

Forgot to mention my current weigh range is 168-170 pounds at a height of 172cm.

What do you mean I have got bigger?

My medication I am on and drinking beer once a week on Saturdays is probably contributing to my weight gain

I turned up to my brother's wedding party a year ago (he had two, one in China and another back home here in England).

People who knew me from my early twenties didn't recognise me because I have literally doubled in size almost.

And my hair has turned from a reddish colour to dark brown.

And I have tattoos now, whereas I didn't used to.

Between 2010-2012 I when I left the gym and started walking more I went from 174 pounds to 148 lbs.

Do you think that is quite a dramatic weight loss? The weight loss happened in a 2 year period.

That's a fair few pounds to shed, yes.

148 lbs is unhealthily thin for 5ft8 as well
